  Elyse

The pain felt like fire coursing through my veins, the serum making its way through my body. I couldn't scream no matter how hard I tried, the pain took my voice finally. I tried to look around, find someone who would help, and take it away. Finally, I saw him, the sadness in his eyes, the sorry he couldn't say. He wasn't allowed to move, if he did, they would do unspeakable things to him. I feel the headpiece come down, holding my head down and–

I wake up abruptly, confused and scared, looking around until I finally see Sam, finally realizing I am in the hospital. NO, I sit up, my breath shaking. Sam wakes up and notices I'm panicking.
"Elyse, it's okay, you're safe. No one can get you in here."

He says rubbing my back to try to calm me. I look over at him and see assurance. I am calm but remember,
                                "Is Bucky okay?"
Before he can even answer me, Bucky walks in and looks at me, his features soften and he looks relieved.
"Finally doll, I was wondering when you wake up."
He gives me a soft smile and I feel a flutter at the nickname he calls me. I smile back, deciding not to ask about the small cuts on his face. Sam notices our small interaction and sits back in his chair smirking, but that doesn't go unnoticed by Bucky.
                                  "What's with that look?''
"What look?" Sam asks in an innocent tone but still has a small smirk that I look at him and see.
"That one," Bucky gestures to Sam's face, "the smirk and eyebrow"
"I've just never heard you give that nickname to anyone. Or look at anyone like that."
I look between them confused,
                                  "Like what?" I ask Sam
                                  "Like he-"
Sam is cut short by two women walking into the room.
                                  "Miss Lorenz, you're awake."
The brunette says giving me a nice smile, the blonde next to her watches me intently.
                                  "Um, yes and you are?"
"I am Agent Hill, This is Agent Carter. We were supposed to have the meeting with you, but obviously, someone had other plans for you."

I sigh softly and nod at them. Carter nods at Bucky and he signals to me that he would be right back, I nod and he steps out with her. Agent Hill asks me about what I can remember, my reason for coming, and I told her the truth, mostly.

"Thank you, we will have another meeting set up in a few days once you are discharged and ready to come in."

I nod and smile at her, she nods to Sam and leaves. He looks at me curiously.

"So what is with you and Buck?"

I turn and look at him confused and surprised by the random question.
                                     "What do you mean?''
"He never looks at anyone like that or calls anyone anything remotely close to that. And I was that blush you tried to hide and ignore."
"One, I didn't blush. Two, nothing is going on, we just know each other from a while ago and I guess he feels comfortable giving me a nickname."
I try to say something to cover my emotions with a lie, hoping he won't notice.

                                        "So, you don't like him?"
                                          "No."
                                         "You're lying."
I look at him blankly,
                                         "I'm not, no."
Sam tries to say something but a nurse walks in and smiles at me.
"You will have to stay one more night to make sure there are no other problems."
"And if I request to be discharged now?"
"There is paperwork for you to sign showing you understand that you are going against medical advisory and understand that we are not liable for anything after you leave."
"You'll be in good hands here Elyse." Sam says
I ignore him,
"I'll sign the waiver and paperwork."
The nurse smiles and says she will be back with everything. Once she leaves, I turn to see Sam clearly confused.
"What the hell? Do you know what you are doing?"
"Yes, avoiding a big amount of questions as to why my skull is fully healed and why I don't have any cuts or bruising anymore..."

Sam looks at me extremely confused but then notices that the cuts visible before and the bruising has started to go. I can tell he is trying to find the right way to ask how but the nurse stops him in his tracks and brings in the paperwork.

"Here is all the paperwork, and your clothes are in the bathroom. Bring the paperwork to the nurses' station to finish the discharge."

I smile and nod taking the paperwork," thank you." She leaves and I start filling out the paperwork. I can feel Sam's eyes on me after the nurse leaves, trying to figure out how I healed so fast. I sigh,

"It's more than we have time for me to explain right now. I'm not even sure Bucky remembers exactly what he saw what they did to me."

I continue filling the paperwork out and hear Sam sigh, he gives me an annoyed and concerned look. He decides to leave it alone for now, standing up,
"I'll be waiting outside and find Bucky."

I nod and hear him walk out, the door clicking closed behind him. I finish the paperwork and set it on the bed as I get up to go to the bathroom. I see my clothes and look in the mirror, unhappy to see the eyes I've been trying to conceal. Seeing my eyes turning, the orange begins to fire over, I rummage through my pockets and finally find the drops and get them into my eyes, blinking and looking again. Back to normal, I sigh and put the vile back, finally changing into my clothes again. I begin to think about what happened and go over it all in my head as I take all the paperwork to the nurses' station to finish discharge.
