"Calum!"
Calum turns around to where he heard his name called, and he sighed deeply when he saw blonde hair and tall lanky legs. Luke jogs up to him and smiles, while Calum crosses his arms across his chest. Luke's blonde eyebrows furrow and he pouts at the shorter boy. "Are you not happy to see me?" Calum rolls his eyes and sighs once more. "Where have you been? I've been waiting for an hour for you." Calum's voice softens as well as Luke's face. "I'm sorry. Ashton and I had to some. . . Things."
Calum nods and turns back around, walking straight ahead and ignores Luke's calls. "Cal, I'm sorry! Wait!" Luke eventually catches up to him and grabs his arm, turning him around to face him. Calum doesn't look at him, instead looking down at their shoes and plays with his dress. "I'm sorry, darling. I didn't mean to stand you up." Luke says. Calum nods again, tears brimming his eyes. Luke immediately pulls him into a bone-crushing bear hug and Calum cries on his shoulder.
Calum hates being stood up. He hates to wait and he hates to be left alone. No one knows why except for Luke, and both of them kept it that way since they were in year 4. Luke rubs Calum's back soothingly and whispers reassurances in his ear. "It's okay Cal, I'm here now. Forget about her, yeah? She's gone now." He rocks the raven-haired boy back and forth and that seemed to calm him down.
"Why don't we go get ice-cream, love?"

Calum and Luke were now laying on Calum's grey couch with a fluffy and soft blanket over them. Luke had his left arm around Calum's waist, and his right hand was holding his ice-cream cone. Calum's head was laid on the blue-eyed boy's left shoulder as his left hand held his ice-cream cone, and they were watching Mean Girls.
Calum pouted as he looked up at Luke. "Why do you think she left me, Luke?" Luke sighed and looked at his best friend. Calum has asked this so many times and Luke never had an answer for it. It always hit him, and he felt so bad for Calum. "Cal, you know I don't know how to answer that." The brown-eyed boy sighed but nodded, looking back at the TV. He yawned and Luke rubbed his sides. "You tired?" Calum nodded, and Luke stood up, grabbing both of their ice-cream cones and throwing them, he then picked him up bridal-style. Calum laid his head on his shoulder and closed his eyes.
Luke walked both of them up to Calum's bedroom, and when they got there he gently laid the boy on his bed and tucked him in. He kissed his forehead before whispering, "Goodnight, darling." And turned off the lights and went outside. He sighed deeply before running his hands through his blonde hair. He went back downstairs and folded the blanket neatly and laid it on the armrest. He sat down on the couch and thought about everything.
He thought about Calum. How his mother left him at such a young age, how he suffered for so many years and where he would've been if he hadn't met his stepmom. The thought of Calum living on the streets brought tears to Luke's eyes and he sobbed quietly. Just imagine what it would be like if he hadn't met Calum. So many things would be different in his life if Calum never came by. He wouldn't meet the love of his life, he wouldn't be the star of the football team, he wouldn't be confident and true to himself if he never met Calum, and he's beyond thankful for the skirt-dressing boy.
He sat there for another five hours.
Just thinking about how his life became so much better with Calum in it.
Then he heard a soft and frail voice.
"Luke?"
He turned his head around and there stood Calum in an oversized white sweater with a cat's face on it. He still had his pastel pink comforter around him, and his hair was messed up. He looked like a puppy. Luke smiled at him, quickly wiping away his tears and clearing his throat. "Hello, darling. Did you get a good sleep?" Calum nodded, and he wobbled over to him and laid beside him, snuggling under his arm and looking up at him. "Why are you crying?" Calum asked, wrapping his small arms around Luke's torso.
Luke smiled down at him and ran his fingers through his hair. "Just thought about what my life would be like without you in it. It made cry a little." He chuckled a bit at the end and Calum frowned. He nuzzled his cheek on his shoulder and sighed. "Don't ever think about that again, okay? I don't want you to get sad. The past is in the past, think about what's happening now." He said. Luke nodded, amazed by his words and kissed the top of his head.
They both stayed like that for a few more minutes before they both fell asleep, the comforter around them and thoughts about their lives on their head.
