                                                         Chapter 6: The Date

After everyone was done inspecting their rooms they all piled into the living-room and shouted my name. I ran to see what was up and they just stared at me. I stopped in the middle of the living room and stared back confused.

"Well?" I questioned.

"Well we're starving! What's for dinner?" Collin responded for everyone.

"Feed us hoe." Haven groaned as she settled into my couch.

"What do you guys want to eat?" I asked. Everyone shrugged.

"Ugh." I exclaimed running into the kitchen with the guys right behind me. I threw open the pantry to see if my family left ANYTHING good enough to eat.

Can of sweet peas? Ew. Bag of beans? Psh, No time. Spaghetti noodles? Now we're talking. Peeled and diced canned tomatoes, can of spaghetti sauce, assorted seasonings and spices sounds like a meal to me.

After an hour everything was ready and everyone sat at a place at the table in the dining-room. They attacked the food as if they hadn't eaten in days!

"Ellen can I borrow your truck? I was supposed to get Kyle his ice cream and I want to keep my promise." I asked after everything was cleared off and clean.

"Sure, just be careful out there with them zombies and everything." She said throwing me the keys.

"Don't worry I have a few guns on me just in case." I smirked.

"You're going on a date with that Peter guy aren't you?" Questioned Collin.

"Why yes I am. Why pray tell do you ask?" I responded mockingly.

" I just don't like the guy." Collin shrugs.

"Relax! I'm only going to have some fun!" I smirked mischievously.

"Why can't you have fun with me? I'm way more attractive than he is." Collin said bitterly.

It was just me and him in the kitchen. I walked over to where he stood and wrapped my arms around his waist.

"Because the fun I'm gonna have with Peter is not the kinda fun I want to have with  you." I winked and ran out before he could question what I meant.

I arrived at Baskin Robbin's with 5 minutes to spare. Peter wasn't here yet and the lights were on so I just decided to go inside and wait. The electric company kept the power and stuff on in case people unaffected by the virus stayed where they were, locked inside afraid to go out. We still had lights, cable everything! Even free channels. Wink wink that means porn. I'm so kidding. Kinda.

I sat at a table and just revelled in the silence or what I thought was silence since all of a sudden I heard rustling noises. I stared at the ice cream counter just in time to see a female zombie stand up, fresh blood dripping from her mouth and pieces of flesh sticking between her teeth. Her eyes dark and lifeless. She looked straight at me and tilted her head as if curious of my existence. I raised an eyebrow as if to challenge her. I guess she understood because in that second she came at me and she was surprisingly fast. I jumped out of my chair flipped behind it and smashed it against the side of her head. The chair broke into thousands of tiny pieces and she still stood as if unaffected by the head bash. I ran and flipped on top of the serving counter, pulled out my gun and nailed a bullet right in her forehead. Her eyes rolled back into her skull and she collapsed into a heap upon the floor.

I sighed as I jumped down from the counter just as the entrance door flew open. I aimed my gun about to shoot until I realized it was only Peter.

"Nice to see ya." I sighed as I put my gun away.

"Nice to see you too." He smirked looking at the dead zombie on the ground with amusement. I moved to the back room in search for delicious vats of ice cream. When I found the freezer I jumped for joy! They had Kyle's favorite ice cream: Cookie dough. I made a mental note to come back and take some vats home. I moved back into the main entrance room and saw Peter sitting at a table waiting for me. During our date we talked about ourselves, flirted, and basically had a good time. I didn't feel any connection with him though. He felt like my best friend or an older brother. I told him this and he agreed saying he felt like that with me too. We just decided to be friends. After all you, need many allies in a zombie apocalypse. He helped me shove the vats of ice cream in the truck and the we exchanged numbers.

"You know we found a place to stay maybe I could search and find you one in my neighborhood." I offered.

"That would be amazing! Thanks." Peter smiled.

"No problem. I'll text you once I've found a place for you."

"Okay. Thanks again." He said before we got into our vehicles and drove off.

I got back home at 10 o'clock with Nick waiting outside.

"What cha doooin?" I asked with a childish grin.

"Waiting for you. How was your date with that guy. Parker was it?" He said the name bitterly.

"It's Peter. The date was great. We're going on another one tomorrow night." I grinned happily. What's up with his attitude?

"What!? I'm sure the date wasn't all that great besides the guy ain't worth shit!" He stated incredulously.

"Damn." I say while laughing. "Someone sounds jealous."

" Me? Jealous? Psh, yeah right..." He trailed off blushing lightly.

"I was only kidding. We just decided to be friends." I smiled then ran into the house calling for the guys to come help get the ice cream. Kyle was elated when he saw how many vats I brought. After the ice cream was settled it was lights out for us all.
