*5 months later*

Louisiana is a wasteland. Barren, empty, and uninhabited except for the few stragglers that are either unable to leave or or too afraid to escape.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to leave. Fortunately, I'm not alone. For the last three months I've been traveling around Louisiana. Searching for a way to escape.

About two months prior to today, I was in Walmart gathering necessities (it was open in case people needed items but empty because duh. There's zombies all over the damn place!) As I was walking down the candy aisle (I LOVE sweets!) I heard an ear splitting scream. With my gun cocked and ready I ran in the direction of the scream and found none other than my old friend Jennifer. She sat cowering in a corner, her arms wrapped lightly around a boy no older than 6 years old as a scrawny zombie stood over them drooling. I shot 2 rounds to it's head and it was out.

i kicked the corpse out of the way and crouched in front of a shaking Jen and the young boy.

"Well hello there stranger." I smiled and held out my hand.

"Alise! You have no idea how happy I am to see you!"Jen exclaimed in relief as she took my hand and pulled the kid up with her.

I looked down at the little boy who stood partially behind Jennifer as if to hide himself.

"Hey buddy. What's your name?" I smiled in encouragement as he hesitantly replied in a small voice. "K-kyle..."

"Well aren't you the cutest little boy I've ever seen!" I squeezed his cheek lightly and he smiled brightly in return.

"The cutest ever!" He shouted. I laughed and insisted on them coming with me so I could protect them and they've been with me ever since.

At the moment, we're all wandering down the highway suffering from Louisiana's bipolar ass weather. The sun scorched our skin causing us to sweat puddles. We've been walking for hours not seeing any cars abandoned or otherwise. We being Me,Kyle,Jen, Trent,Bobby, and Collin. I met the guys about a month ago when Jen,Kyle, and I made a pit stop at a gas station.

*FLASHBACK*

While Jen brought Kyle to the bathroom I wandered into the small building only to see three guys stocking up on food and drinks. I startled one of them (who just so happened to have a gun) and he turned around pointing the gun directly at my head.

"Whoa there big boy. That's a pretty big gun. How about you NOT point it at my head?" I held my hands up in a sign of surrender and he slowly put the gun down and stared at me in confusion.

"I didn't think anyone was still here. Especially someone so pretty." He said as he looked me up and down. I laughed as two guys came around the corner holding multiple bags of junk food and their eyes widened when they noticed me standing there. I waved with a broad smile on my face and they smiled and waved back while introducing themselves.

"Hello there beautiful. The name's Trent. What's a pretty young thing like yourself doing in a place like this?" One of the guys said.

"Umm...breathing?" I replied in confusion. The other guy laughed and held out his hand to me to shake.

"I'm Bobby. What's your name gorgeous?" He said as he winked at me.

"Wow. You guys are laying it on hard aren't you?" I laughed as I shook his hand."My name is Alise."

" The name's Collin." The first guy introduced himself.

"Where are you guys headed?" I asked. They looked at each other then back to me.

"Somewhere. Anywhere. Nowhere. Everywhere." They answered in unison.

"Oooo-kay....? Well would you guys like to tag along with me and my friends? Safety in numbers after all." I smiled.  They nodded in agreement and left with me,Jen and Kyle.

*END FLASHBACK*

We've been walking for hours so we decided to stop and take a break. 5 minutes pass when suddenly I hear the sound of an engine. I get up and stand in the middle of the street and block the way of a green pick up truck. The driver stops and rolls down the window to reveal an old woman in her late 60s.

"Hi ma'am. My name is Alise and these are my friends. Would it be okay if we rode along with you? We're not infected and we can help protect you since we've been fighting zombies together for a while." I smiled. I noticed a soft mop of black hair in the backseat of the pick up and realized that there was a guy listening to music sitting there. His eyes were closed as he bobbed his head to the rhythm of the song and honestly? He was drop dead gorgeous.

"Of course! You kids are more than welcome . I'm Ellen and the dark brooding guy back there is my grandson Nick." She smiled as she introduced herself and her grandson. He wasn't paying us any mind.

The gang and I piled into the pick up, Collin,Trent, and Bobby in the bed of the truck, Jen in the back next to Nick and Kyle in the front with me on my lap. Ellen starts driving and everything is calm after a while until a girl covered in dirt and blood ran straight into the truck but seemed to jump on the front of it with her head down. Ellen stopped the truck and she looked up, our eyes connected and I shouted in confused disgust.

"Amy?!?!?!" She rolled her eyes and jumped down from the truck.

"Who else would I be you idiot?" She shrieks as I get out the vehicle.

"Still a bitch I see." I say flatly.

"Still poor, ugly, and badly dressed I see." She quipped.

"Go lick a cow." I glared. I never have witty things to say when I need them!

"Is that the best you've got?" She laughed.

"I'll show you the best I've got!" I shouted and went to punch her but someone restrained me. I turned around to see Collin holding me back.

"You don't want to hit her. Not now anyways." He spoke in a soothing voice and smiled gently at me until I calmed down.

"Anyways, if your theatrics are over I need help." Amy said while picking her nails in boredom.

"Why would I help you of all people?" I sneered.

"Because my daddy is in trouble okay?!?! A group of thugs broke into his lab and has taken him and his assistants hostage. Someone has to save him! He's the only family I have left..." She trailed off not making eye contact but just staring at her feet.

"Lead the way." I sighed in defeat.
