Chapter 4: On the Road Again

We drove for what felt like hours. I got bored until I remembered I had my cell phone. I turned it off when I ran away to keep battery life and only used it when I needed to and charged it when I could. It should be fully charged since the last time I charged it I haven't used it at all afterward. I pulled it out of my pocket and turned it on. After it woke up (I treat my phone like a human, a baby to be exact),I noticed I had 5 missed calls and 10 text messages all from my best friend Haven. I read the text messages first and most of them seemed panicked :Alise son wheres you be? I heard you ran away.

Bitch answer me I know you're still alive!!!!!!

If you're dead send back yes.

But the last one had me worried: Alise if you're alive, please come get me. The zombies killed everyone and I'm all alone. Please don't be dead.

I gasped and Jen must have heard me because she asked what was wrong, I handed her my phone and she gasped the same as I did.

"Oh my Buddha!!!"Jen whisper-yelled and then handed me back the phone.

"I know." I replied.

"What's goin' on?" Nick asked with a bit of concern.

"Our friend is in trouble and may be dead." I said bluntly.

"Alise, don't say that!!!! She could still be alive." Jen gasped.

 "This message was sent 3 days ago, Jen." I sighed but I decided to call Haven's phone to see if she really was alive or dead. Haven was a warrior. She was easy to freak out but she could kick your ass if you messed with her or her friends. I found her number in my contacts and pressed call. Haven's voice greeted me in shocked happiness.

"ALISE!?!?!?! Is it really you!?!?!?!?"She sounded like she hadn't slept in days.

"Haven!!!! I'm so happy your alive!!! Are you okay?" I practically yelled making Kyle stir in his sleep.

"Yeah, I'm fine but I have no food and I need sleep. I;m so happy your alive, too!!!!!!!!"She seemed less scared than how she first sounded on the phone.

"I'm gonna come get you. Where are you?"I whispered.

"I'm at my house. Oh Alise son you a life saver! This is why we're best fraaaaaaaaaaaaaaands!!!!!"Haven exclaimed.

"You're welcome Clover (Haven's nickname) and you already knoooooow! Now go pack your clothes and I'll be there in 5 minutes." I smiled at what she said."You're that close?"She asked in shock.

"Nope." I smirked.

"Oh god don't die from speeding." I could practically hear her head shaking at me. I laugh and hang up.

"Ellen do you mind if we pick up my friend? She really needs someone."I asked Ellen who was listening to my conversation with Haven intently.

"No, I don't mind at all."She smiled.

"Thank you, now if we're gonna get there in time......."I trailed off.

"I'm guessing you want to drive?" Ellen glanced at me in amusement.

"How'd you know?"I joked.She pulled over and we switched seats. When we were settled, I speed off.

I finally stopped in front of Haven's house and I actually made it in time.I got out of the car and walked to the back of the truck to talk to the guys before they meet her.

"Ok. Now listen up guys. This is my best friend's house. Her family was killed so be nice to her, but also treat her like you would treat me."I said and stopped to hear their replies.

"But Alise, if we treat her like we treat you doesn't that mean we can flirt with her?"Collin asked with a mocking tone.

"Knock yourselves out." I shrugged. 

 I walked away and up to Haven's door. I looked around outside before knocking on the door. Haven came rushing out and ran straight to the truck before stopping in front of it.

"Where'd you get the truck? And the people in it?"She moved to the back of the truck when she heard one of the guys chuckle.

"And the hot guys?!?!?!"She fanned herself with her hand. I chuckled.

"Down girl."I giggled while I introduced the guys then Nick and Ellen. When she noticed Jen sitting in the back next to Nick she gasped and climbed in next to her.

"Jen!!!!!!!" She screamed and hugged her while Jen chuckled and hugged her back.

"I didn't get a hug."I pouted and she reached over and hugged me.

I got back in my original seat while Ellen got in the drivers seat."Ellen can we stop at my house for a while? I just want to clean myself up and see if anyone is there."I asked turning to look at her.

"Sure I need a break from driving anyway ."She shrugged.I gave her directions to my house which wasn't that far from Haven's. When we pulled up into the driveway, I noticed no one was home so I got out the truck and closed the door.
