Cherry blossom petals danced in the wind, as they fell to the ground, a blur of yellow and orange dash through the busy crowd.
His Anbu guard followed suit, "Inu-san hurry up!" The boy tugged at Inu's black sleeve. "I don't want to miss the fireworks this year because you're so slow!" He stated, puffing his cheeks out.
'Cute' Inu thought, "Hai, hai. Naruto-sama." He waved lazily, Naruto halted his steps. "Inu, I told you to call me Naru, Na-ru."
Inu found it hard not to laugh at Naruto's cuteness, continuing their fast-paced walk.
Naruto had found the perfect spot, minutes later, it had a great view of the village. The air was fragrant with cherry blossoms, the moon full moon bright. Naruto enjoyed this feeling, his ocean blue was brimming with excitement.
"Naru?" Inu walked closer to the boy, "Are you I'm enjoying the festival?" Naruto turned his head slightly to face his guard, a bright toothy grin on his face.
Inu felt the warmth of that smile, excitement filled the air, the Sakura festival was in full swing, and the celebration was also for the newborn children who were being born tonight.
The fourth Hokage had three children now, Naruto being the eldest, at the age of five he was mature, understanding a lot of things.
Naruto gazed up at the bright stars, Inu had joined in on the action.
A chill ran through Naruto's spine, surveying the area, 'What was that?! The air feels so heavy right now?' His eyes flicked side to side looking.
"I-Inu-?" Inu looked down at Naruto, "Hmm...?" he did not notice Naruto's tone.
"S-something b-" A deafening roar filled the air, Naruto covered his ears, standing frozen. His breath increased, and he felt dread all over his body.
He dared not look at what made that sound. Someone shook him. "Naruto! Naruto! Breath, we need to get out of here now!"
Inu picked up the shaken boy, jumping away just as a large piece of rubble landed where they just stood.
Naruto was pressed into Inu's chest, the once bright village in disarray, Inu kept moving ignoring the dead bodies already scattered around.
Inu pressed Naruto tighter into his chest, he needed to get Naruto to safety first.
Naruto gripped Inu's shirt tightly, his body shaking. 'What was this type of fear, why do I have a feeling people are going to die?'
Inu felt Naruto shake, worry etched in his eyes. Soon another Anbu joined him, "Where is Lord Hokage?"
"Fighting the beast!" A bear masked Anbu stated.
'Tou-chan?' Naruto closed his eyes trying to find his father. Naruto felt him, also his mother, and two others he did not recognize and also... "Jiji?"
Naruto squirmed in Inu's hold, and Inu gripped tighter. "Stay Naruto!" Inu ordered.
Naruto felt fear fill him only more. "NO! They need me!" Naruto squirmed more, successfully getting out of Inu's hold.
Naruto landed facing Inu, "Tou-chan, Kaa-chan, and Jiji need me!" He turned, only to freeze in place seeing dead bodies lying about, screaming and crying could be heard.
Naruto gagged at the stench that filled the once-lively air of the village. Something or someone hit him in the back of the neck.
Darkness filled his vision, "I'm sorry Naruto..." Inu caught him before he hit the ground. He breathed out a heavy sigh.
"Bear, take him to the shelter, I'm going to assist the others." Inu handed Naruto's limp body over to bear.
"Hai, captain!" He vanished into thin air. 'I'm truly sorry Naruto.' Inu jumped to the roof to survey the damage to the village.
