Chapter 5

Azura looked at the tunnel "So what do you think of it?" Liam walked over with a knife like sword he felt the tunnels end to end "This is too big to be a tunneler." The women looked shocked she seemed old and frail Azura turned with a smile "I wouldn't worry about it miss, we'll climb through kill whatever's inside and collapse the tunnel." Azura nodded she and Liam both went in halfway through though the tunnel floor caved in, they fell through landing on a smile lake in a giant cave system she got up and quickly yelled "LIAM!" A hand rose from the waters she ran over grabbing it she lifted him up "What the heck is this?" Liam shrugged "This all looks creature made, this is definitely too big for a tunneler it would at the very least take hundred of years to build, even then there should be a substance replacing the areas tunnels are built." A loud growl could be heard behind them Azura turned slowly to finally see the faint tentacle armed monster using its two human looking legs it sprinted towards them Azura was left frozen while Liam tried to drive it away with a small spell but failed horribly as the monster used its longest tentacle and grabbing Liam throwing him to a wall, Azura looking over used her hand to cast a spell but it only made the creature angrier, it ran closer towards her but as soon as it was about to attack it dropped to the ground everything began to rumble as it did, giving Azura clear eye of the creatures body, she saw behind a certain point there was a small human body attached to a fisher like thing, it was the lady and her heart was almost impaled with a raw spewing neon liquid "Shoulda aimed for the body." Someone came from the surface carrying a sword that was bright and a bright blue metallic like substance "The lurer weakness lies in pure blocks of magic material from the veil "H-How can you touch the stuff like that?" Noticing the sword was made of the same materials "it was refined with sap of an oak tree allowing me to touch it without adverse effects, enough taking you should probably attend to the boy." Azura looked over Liam had gotten up and walked towards her but he had been bleeding, he appeared tired and hurt Azura touched his face causing him to glow with a bluish aura "What is with the the Lurer here they normally appear in caves less around humans, elves or dwarfs?" Mysterious voices owner came jumping down he appeared to be a dwarf around the height of Liam "No clue but with the dark ones appearing corrupting the lands they might be the answer." Azura looked at the dwarf he seemed familiar then it hit har "Bertram from the Void-men course it was you!" The man groaned "I'm not here to fight, Mage I came... in need of help." Azura looked at him shocked "Help w-why?" Liam spoke he seemed a little shook but overall in good health "Yeah I thought you had a band of fieryful men? Bertram pointed towards the corpse "I did until this little shit led my entire crew through a portal that led us all to a dragons nest killing half of us now it's only me, and Wyler, but even now something about this lurer feels off. It's mana connections are all fucked up somehow, it's like the dark ones blight even effected that part of it." Azura looked at the corpse as it laid there lifeless something felt off about it "Why would you be looking for more members?" Azura stopped gazing at the corpse and moved over to the dwarf Bertram sighed "Magic is your focus and we're down a mage, heard you were looking for a group anyway and I'm guessing kid over there is a requirement." Azura looked to Liam and he looked back confused as he was now standing in front of one of the tunnels he waved and smiled "You didn't answer the question." Bertram sighed he tabbed the back of his head and looked away "To be honest don't you find what's happening with the plague all too strange, maybe 10 or so years ago the empires of courtal would push them back to their bits of underground land with each of their speciality soldiers now that Kieren is at the helm of the alliance all they do is sit and do nothing only attacking when the blighted ones take too much land?" Azura looked to the ceiling "I've noticed, I have theory but if I were to join your Void-men how would I know Liam is kept safe?" Azura said Bertram sighed "I promise you I'll give you everything my healer had on magic, I won't let him die. And I'm sorry about Liam, the original." Azura sighed she nodded "I'll come but what are we to do again you haven't answered my question?" Bertram smiled "We're gonna unmask the governments plan, starting with something your familiar with." Azura sighed "The tower of magic."
