Chapter 2

Third POV:

Flashback

Aubrey waits in the school corridor for her friends, she checks her watch, she's early. She stoops to peer through the window. Her eyes lands on one of her classmates, Jason, one of the heartthrob of the school. She met him during a group project and have been friends since then.

Aubrey's POV:

Present

'Aubrey? Hey!!' He calls out smiling as I get back on my feet.

'Oh Jason! Good to see you' I replied returning his smile not knowing whether to hug him or not. I suddenly became very awkward and had no idea what to do or say. Me being an introvert did not help the situation.

'How are you?'

I looked at the road for a second, meeting his eyes again.

'I am doing great just trying to figure out the route but it seems impossible, I sighed. But luckily I met these cute little kittens on my way.'

I awed, looking at sight of the little babies playing among themselves and one of them rubbing on my left feet asking for my attention.

'Wanna go there together, we are heading to the same place anyway' he offered.

I turned to look at him. I didn't think I could find it in me to say no to him. Nodding we made our way towards our highschool, where the reunion party was held.

I gazes out at the shop windows as we pass through the High Street. It was a tiny vanilla-smelling store, my dad would take me there on the way back home.

'I couldn't believe it when I received your email, it's been years..
.... fifteen years, he replies.
He keeps his eyes fixed on the road ahead. I nervously played with the charm bracelet beneath the sleeve of my coat.

'Do you mind if we just sit here a moment?'

He shifts in his seat. 'We can sit here as long as you like'.

'I couldn't contact you after our graduation.' He turns his eyes on me with a small smile.

'It's like you were never there, just disappeared. But I guess I need to thank my colleague for his hacking skills or I wouldn't have found you.'

We both giggle, 'Sorry after what happened I just wanted to go somewhere far. A place where know one knew me and would remind me of the awful events we went through.'

'I understand it was hard for all of us but specially for you'. He states looking dejected.

The warmness is now gone.

The smiles, those giggles, I can no longer hear.

It's all in the past.

Coming out of my thoughts. I recognised one of the women as a girl from our class, but couldn't quite grasp the name.

'uh- isn't that Autumn?'

Jason looks towards the direction I was pointing to. It was really funny to see his reaction, He looks like a deer in the headlights.

'Damm!! She looked so different during our school days, who knew she's gonna turn out this hot.'

'And married', I continued controlling my laugh.

He chuckled, 'I wasn't going to hit on her though.'

They sit there silently in each other presence.

'We should go the party must have started.' I nod.
