Leah rushed to the telephone, almost ripping the cord. She had called every number she knew in hopes of finding her kids and knowing if they were safe.
"Hello, answer me," Darren said. "it's an emergency."
Leah was relieved to hear his voice. "What's going on? Are you alright? Albert said you were at a hotel with an older man."
"It was dad," Darren told her. "he didn't hurt me but he made someone hurt Ruthie. I need you to come get us, take her to the emergency room."
Fear pumped through every muscle and vein of Leah's body. She couldn't take a deep breath.
"Where are you?" She asked.
Leah hurried Kent into the car and they took off to the warehouse Darren and Ruthie were standing outside of.
Kent was driving over the speed limit of 35. He was going 60. The road felt heavy, though barely anyone was around on it.
Kent almost crashed the car into a stop sign. He sped past it as he saw the two at the pay phone. The cops weren't around to see it.
Darren carried Ruthie and placed her into the car first, then he got in on the other side. She was miserable and unconscious again.
Kent asked. "What happened to her?" and Darren explained everything to both of them.
Leah's soul sunk to it's lowest point. She couldn't handle anymore. Kent rushed them to the emergency room.
The wind was howling. A huge storm was approaching. The rain bolted down making it harder to drive.
"We're not moving away," Darren insisted. "not just yet."

Of course there was a wait time. There always was. Kent went to explain to the doctors everything that happened and that she needed care immediately. Anyone could tell by just looking at her.
The doctors cleaned Ruthie up and asked her many questions. She was flushed out, bandaged They used a 'rape kit' to find evidence.
It took hours, but it was for good. All Leah could think about was how Troy found them again and kidnapped his own daughter but treated his son to a fancy hotel.
Ruthie had to stay overnight so the doctors could continue to preserve evidence and watch over her. She went unconscious again, though it only lasted for about 5 minutes.
It was best for them to keep her overnight and watch over her. Ruthie was sound asleep, sunken into the pillow. Leah kissed her on the forehead and whispered goodbye. She couldn't stop the tears as they left the hospital.
"This is such a disaster." Leah sighed.
"Are you alright, hun?" Kent asked. "i think you need to go home and get in bed. She's in good hands with the doctors."
"I'm trying," Leah cried. "it's just like no matter what I do for these kids, I can't protect them."
"You've done your best, babe. I know it. They know it."
They pulled into the driveway of the house they'd still stay at for good. Leah couldn't leave, now that she found a man who truly treated her right.
Eleanor and the police were over at Albert's house. What is going on now?

"Hold on," Darren walked up to Eleanor. "why are the police here? He was getting closer to good. He probably would've confessed!"
"Don't be on his side," Eleanor huffed. "Anyway, they're not even looking for evidence just yet. But, they will. They'll be back."
The officers were scanning the house, yet didn't check the basement or Darren's house. Darren's house had all the evidence, since Albert didn't move to the house next door until his 30s.
