I wake up a few hours later, still at the top of the staircase. Only now, I wasn't alone.
"Good morning, little Lupin." I hear as I look up at the figure beside me. I recognized him from the Slytherin table. Severus Snape.
"May I help you?" I say as I gather my barrings and stand up, dusting myself off.
"It seems you've found my spot and thought it would be yours. I suggest you go to that big tree down there, that's where I had to stop going but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem for you." He says, never making eye contact but pointing to a willow tree across the yard.
"Don't overhype this place. I'm only here because I got lost, not by choice." I start walking down the staircase, figuring I could find my way back to the common rooms somehow.
Suddenly, he appears right in front of me.
"Follow me, if you go alone you'll just get lost again or get in trouble," Severus says as he walks slightly in front of me.
As he walks me to where I need to be, we strike up a small conversation about the events that had occurred in the cafeteria earlier that morning. I guess from the outside looking in, you'd think we were on crack or something but the truth was that's just how an inside joke works.
For how bad the Marauders talked about Severus, he honestly wasn't horrible. Sure, he was a little dry and maybe there was more that I didn't know about yet but as far as I could tell.
"No, I'm not saying I would just up and say that to Dumbledore BUT if it came down to it... yes, I would tell him he's Dumble Daddy." I say, carrying on the conversation we were having about a would you rather sort of thing.
"Well, here you are. Gryffindork Tower. You know, you're not so bad, Lupin." He mentions right before departing.
"Neither are you, Snape. Good night, see you tomorrow" I wave as I walk into the common room. Immediately, I'm met with not one, not two, but three absolutely angered faces.
"Wow, I thought you guys couldn't get any uglier yet here you are," I smirk slightly as I walk past them. Of course, they just followed me into the dorms.
"No way you were hanging out with that snake, Roman." Remus raises his voice, his face full of disgust.
I sit down on my bed and grab my book, turning to the bookmarked page that I had been reading before.
"Roman, you can't just ignore me. He's a bad person!" Remus exclaims, putting emphasis on the bad person part by slightly dragging out the words. "You haven't been here long enough to understand but I promise he isn't nice or cool or whatever."
"Why should your opinion influence my decision on who I decide to be friends with?" I refrain from taking my eyes off the book as I can feel their eyes all on me.
I hear him scoff, usually hinting that he's given up on the subject and knows he won't get through to me. Finally.
Just as I thought I'd finally get my peace and quiet, a weight can be felt beside me.
"I know you're probably not a big social person but there's a party tonight in the Ravenclaw Tower. If you want to come, we'll all be there. Theme is Euphoria." And with that, Sirius is gone.
Now, normally I wouldn't bother going. I can't be bothered with that stuff. I don't care for drinking games or beer pong or whatever else there is at parties. But, no way in hell am I passing up a chance to dress like a slut and not get bashed for it.
--------------------
I finally find my way to the Ravenclaw Tower and give the password that was written on a small piece of parchment Sirius had left for me.
