Zak peered around the corner as Jason slowly shifted toward the exit of the submarine.
Jason seemed to glance over to see if the group had noticed him. When he realized that they hadn't seen him yet, he exited the submarine, making no sounds whatsoever.
Zak took a deep breath before stepping into the hallway and going down it. He made a turn toward the ladder.
"And where are you going?" Ochard asked Zak.
Zak turned and gulped.
Xanthus and a couple of others looked in Zak's direction in response.
"Somewhere..." Zak began to tell them. "There's something I need to do." He turned away from them and started to climb the ladder to the surface.
"We're losing people left and right. First Fred and Greg and now this? Do they not wanna help us save the world?" Wayne shook his head and pondered.

"W-where did Lucifer lock her away?" Fred asked, clearing his throat afterward.
"Why do we have to talk about such heavy stuff, Freddie?" Delyth asked. "Can't a mother just appreciate her son visitin' her?"
Greg pulled a face.
Meadow looked back and forth between Fred and Delyth before exclaiming, "That's your mom?"
"Yes," Fred sighed. "But, we don't have time just to visit. The world is crumbling around us for fucks sake."
"Freddie, watch your language," Delyth said.
"I'm a senior!" Fred grumbled.
"I never got to ask you guys who you were," Delyth began to say, directing her comment at Fred's companions.
Fred sighed once again. "This is Meadow Caesar, Michael's daughter-"
"The supposed future wife of Sammy, huh?" Delyth began, amused. "Koios told me about it himself."
"What?" Meadow questioned, completely and utterly confused.
"Forget I said anything, lassie," Delyth told her. Her gaze drifted toward Greg. "And this is?"
Fred started to say, "Greg Yvie-"
"Ah, you must be Freddie's... boyfriend, then?"
Fred's face flushed red. "He's not my boyfriend!"
Delyth chuckled a little. "If you say so, Freddie." She leaned toward Greg and whispered, "If you even think about breaking my son's heart, I will break all the bones in your body."
Greg flinched. "Got it."
"Who are they?" Meadow called out, while looking at a photo of two people; one was a red-haired woman with a scowl on her face and the other was an Egyptian man who was smirking.
Delyth approached Meadow. "That's Fedelm and Sorisonaten."
"Famine and War?" Greg questioned.
Delyth nodded. "Yup." Delyth pointed to another photo which pictured a young Japanese woman with hair a little past her shoulders. "That's Sammy."
Meadow picked up the framed photo. Her face felt warm. "This is Death?"
"It's starting," Delyth laughed.
"Why are you blushing?" Greg questioned Meadow.
"I'm not!" Meadow snapped. "It's just warm in here. I definitely don't find Samiko or Salem or whatever attractive."
"What a shame." Delyth frowned. "I could've probably set something between you two. But if you're not interested..." She trailed off.
Meadow rolled her eyes and scoffed. "You're not gonna bait me."
"It was worth a try." Delyth paused. "How about we have a drink or two? Then we'll discuss this whole Sammy business."

Zak followed Jason to an abandoned building near the boardwalk.
Jason looked around before entering.
Zak waited a couple of minutes before following him. He tried to enter as quietly as possible. Then, he hid behind a counter.
"Hey, Akachi," Jason said to the boy with dark skin who approached him.
"Jasoslav!" Akachi cheered as he hugged the other boy. "It's been way too long."
Zak had pulled a face when the name 'Jasoslav' was said.
"It's good to see you too." Jason frowned. "You might wanna stand back."
Akachi complied and took a couple of steps backward.
Jason took a deep breath before sprinkling shards of something Zak couldn't quite identify in a circle around him. Jason swung his hand in a circle over the shards–the shards caught fire. Jason unsheathed a dagger and slit a cut in his hand. He smeared the blood in an odd shape on the ground.
Jason then began to chant something in a language that Zak didn't know.
The flames leaped higher.
Jason's red gaze drifted over to Akachi–he looked a little bit worried. He looked away, swallowing the lump that had formed in his throat. His hands trembled as he wrapped his fingers around the dagger again. He shouted something in the ancient language and stabbed himself right through the heart. Jason fell backwards as the flamed died down. He mass coughed out blood.
"Jason!" Zak shouted as he ran from behind his hiding place. He rushed over and kneeled by the demon.
Akachi didn't even seem to question Zak.
"Why did you do that?" Zak asked.
Jason smiled a little, coughing out a little more blood. He said one word and word one only. "Xuviphas."
