I sit at my desk writing to my parents. Two of my greatest friends at with me. Callie and Jared.

I write to my parents all the time. I find comfort in it, because they always seem to know how to help me if I'm ever feelings anxious or scared, even if it's just through a letter.

Callie is looking through my dorm at all the pictures scattered around. Jared is just lounging at the foot of my bed, reading one of the books from my shelf. He reads a new one every time he comes in.

"Hiraeth why is your father so fucking hot?" Callie asks holding up a picture of him and I.

"You tell me." I respond.

"I wish my parents were as young as yours, I'd have so much more fun." She says, putting the picture down.

I shake my head and look back at her. "It's not always fun, they always overshare." I cringe.

"Like what?" Jared asks.

"You don't wanna know."

"Maybe I'd rather stay curious." Callie grins.

"You're disgusting." I say turning back to my letter.

Callie takes a seat on my bed next to Jared, just fiddling with the comforter.

Jared shuts the book. "Just finished another one."

"You're insane." I laugh.

As I'm placing my letter in an envelope, I hear both of my friends gasp.

"What is it?" I say turning around.

I drop my envelope on the floor as my body jolts. It's my mom, just standing in the room like it's normal.

"Mom! You're not supposed to be here." I say.

She shrugs. "What? I just wanted to visit. And meet your friends."

Sometimes I forget my mother is still young and fit.

Callie has seen pictures of my parents before and thinks they're both extremely good looking. She's bisexual, so it just makes her find them even more attractive than they already are.

"Mrs. Malfoy, it's so nice to meet you." Callie says, getting up from my bed. "I'm Callie."

"Nice to meet you Callie." My mother says, smiling.

I grab her arm. "Mom seriously, what if I was naked or something?"

She rolls her eyes. "You're forgetting that I pushed you out of my birth canal."

My eyes go wide.

She laughs and turns to Jared.

"I'm guessing this is the famous Jared." She says.

Jared smiles his pretty smile. "Yes ma'am."

"What a handsome boy." My mother says.

She's being too friendly already.

"Thank you." Jared blushes.

"Where's your husband?" Callie asks.

My mother sits down next to them on the bed. "At home with the baby. You should tell Sterling to come here." She says to me.

Callie gasps. "You had another baby?!"

I shake my head. "No, she's just talking about Serenity even though she's four."

My mother walks around, looking at everything there is to see in my room. "I bet Sterling looks so cute in his little uniform."

"Yeah, pretty cute but he's acting like Dad. Pompous."

"Your father is not pompous anymore. Know why?" She asks.

I sit down next to my friends on my bed. "Yes, because he fell in love with you. Sterling is only eleven though. I just wish he would can it with the bitchy attitude."

"Maybe someone will just get mad at him enough to talk some sense into him." Callie says.

My mother walks over to me and takes my face in her hands. "I'll go now, sorry I barged in." She smiles and kisses my forehead. "I love you darling."

I wrap my arms around her because I really do miss her all the time. "I love you. Tell Dad I miss him."

She nods and then she's gone in an instant.

Callie hops up from the bed. "I wish my mother loved me as much as your mom loves you."She says. "Anyways, I should get going. It's late."

Once she's out the door I'm alone with Jared. Most of time i'm alone with Jared.

He immediately speaks. "I noticed a lot in those few minutes."

"Like what?"

He sighs. "For starters, she has a pretty gnarly scar on her jaw. There's also a few small ones on her arms."

I've seen those scars my whole life. And my whole life I've been wondering where they could've came from. My mother would answer and say she had a cat growing up and it would scratch her.

I never believed that. I know there's no cat.

"She's never told me where those came from." I say to him. "She shouldn't be scared to tell me the truth. She tells me everything. I tell her everything. I just don't understand."

"Maybe it's just triggering for her. It might be best for her to keep it to herself. She doesn't wanna put that pressure on you." He says.

Somehow Jared always seems to sound so right whenever he speaks. Even if it's about something so ridiculous.

Half of the time he makes me sound so incredibly stupid.

"I guess you could be right." I shrug.

"Come here." He says, holding his arms out to me.

I accept his hug and let myself relax into him.

I close my eyes and listen to his voice. "Don't think about it. Got it?"

I nod.

"Seriously, Raebie."

I furrow my eyebrows, my eyes still closed. "I don't like when you call me that. It sounds like that disease that animals get."

"But since I'm referring to you, it isn't as bad."
