(The video game ain't gonna be about romance, hehe

TW: Gore, scary imagery, blood, almost throwing up, gagging, semi-heavy angst)

MK threw things around, taking full advantage of the fact Macaque had gone out that day.

Mei played a game, ignoring her brother and lifting the couch. With her on it.

Sandy tried to help, "What are you looking for?"

MK grumbled, "Something- ANYTHING- to make me stronger so that I can defeat..." He paused.

"...A really BAD bad guy."

Sandy frowned, "Aren't Wukong and Maquak's lessons enough?" The brunette monkey huffed, "I feel like...I need more of a challenge! Besides, I...I'm not strong enough for this bad guy."

The friendly giant picked up a scroll, reading it carefully, "'A wise warrior uses his enemy's strength against them'. I'm guessing Mac left this for you. What does it mean?"

MK had a small suspicion that Sandy knew, but he guessed anyway, "I need to get stronger, duh!"

--

Wukong shoved the scrolls onto his cloud, not really caring about their safety.

He just needed to find someone he could use to help him.

He limped onto his cloud, hissing when his wounded leg was hoisted up. Quickly, he flew off, heading for a demon town close by.

--

Mei whistled, "Sheesh, Wukong starred in some seriously horrible games."

MK perked up, "Huh?"

Mei pointed at the screen, showing a lingering shadow with red eyes and golden pupils piercing through. Digital bloodshed covered the creature's surroundings along with the silhouettes of clearly dead bodies.

What had clearly caught everyone's attention, however, were the claw marks scratching through the cover.

"Oh, wow. That looks like Wukong. What is it?" Mei took off the headgear, scanning over the packaging of the game, "Uh, it's a horror-themed fighting simulator--"

MK snatched the gaming items, slipping them on as Mei protested. The monkey grinned, "Maybe this is what I need!"

Sandy sighed, "Or a break?"

"Nope, I have to do this!!"

He clicked 'on' and watched the game come to life, "Wait, is it true that if I die in the game I die in real life..?"

"What? No!" The dragon turned toward Sandy, mildly panicking, "Idon't-I don't know-!"

The headset scanned MK, designing a look-a-like avatar to represent him. The difficulty options popped up, and MK shrugged before hitting 'Normal Mode'.

--

The sky was red, dark, and covered by dark, brewing clouds.

Baren trees swayed ominously and a bird suddenly dropped dead. MK's character shifted nervously on the dead grass.

A sudden beaten-looking monk ran up, "Are you here to save us?" MK grimaced, "He...kinda looks like Dad."

Mei piped up, "Uh, says on the box he's supposed to be Tripitaka."

"Figures," MK muttered blandly, knowing who the monk was made him a lot less friendly. "Head to the dojo to learn how to fight!" The monk's eyes had a sudden spark of hope as he stared at MK's character, his shoulders lowering in slight relief.
