Zayn and I had been spending more time together since what he told me about Perrie.

"So, which do you think she would prefer? The pink ones or the lavender?" Zayn asks me looking determined as we both pick flowers for the Proposal. He's been calling me and texting me a whole lot lately. Asking for my opinions about which country to propose to, which island looked more romantic.

It was great to see that our friendship was going great.

"I prefer the lavender, I think they'd look prettier on a sunny day." I comment as I held the flower just then an old lady approached us.

"Are you the couple who was planning to get some flowers today?" She smiles at the both of us.

I was about to speak up when she interrupts again.

"You two look good together, you know, you remind me of my husband and I. He was my first love, my best friend and my first everything. Sadly, he went away earlier than I. We used to do all things together." She tells us her eyes almost watering with tears.

"Oh, Maam I'm sorry but we're not.-"

"It must've been hard. Him not being around anymore. Right honey?" Zayn cuts me off and looks at me as if motioning that I just play along.

"O-oh, yes. Um.. Yeah, we're sorry for your loss Maam." I say it genuinely because somehow I could relate to her in a way.

Losing your first love. It must've been painful. I wondered if she ever felt like me.

Here I was picking flowers with my first love but these flowers weren't for me. They were for another girl.

A girl that he was going to marry and I was being a martyr and just decided to go with it.

I've thought about just taking back what I said about helping Zayn because as much as stupid as I sound. The thought of seeing him propose to another girl, killed me. I still have feelings for this boy and I don't know if it'll even fade away quickly.

I was an idiot but I also didn't want to be a bad friend and let him down. I was the first one he'd told. Obviously, he trusted me and for once that made things a little bit better.

"Well, that was unexpected." Zayn says when we got out of the store. By now, he had already pulled his hood on and his scarf hiding his face.

"Yup. Why'd you lie?" I ask when we reach his car.

"Well for one. The lady looked really sad and she lost her husband. So, telling her that we weren't a couple would probably just make it worse. You heard what she said, we resembled the two of them when her husband was still alive." Zayn explains and I nod.

"Where are we off to next?" I ask as he began to drive away.

"You are going to help me pick out a ring." He informs me nervously.

"Wow, that's.. That's um.. A lot of pressure." I manage to say.

"Yup, I'm feeling nervous. What if she doesn't like it? What if she thinks that- No, what if she says no? What if I-"

"Zayn, stop it. She won't say no. She loves you." I say and put my hand in his shoulder to calm him. He looks at my hand briefly then at me. Suddenly his expression softens and I didn't know what it was but it made me quickly pull my hand back.

"So.. Any idea what'll it be? Do you want to give her a super fancy ring with a huge diamond on it or the simple and traditional size?" I ask clearing my throat in the process.

"What do you think? She doesn't like a lot of fancy stuff. She just.. Well, she's just. Just." He finishes off with a chuckle.

"Okay then, we'll just go get a just then." I joke and he laughs lightly looking at me and pauses before his eyes go back on the road.
