I nod hesitant to EJ without Gina noticing.

In the break, EJ leds me in a quiet corner with a lie to Gina that he has to ask me something about the lesson material we have to learn so she doesn't get suspicious. "You wrote a letter to me in which it sounds like it's not long ago that you're in love with me. And now you're together with Ricky? Just like that?" I nod. "It felt right", I admit. "Stop playing your games. This makes no sense. In the letter you wrote how bad it is for you that Gina is my girlfriend. But in the next moment you stick on Rickys lips. You're joking, right?", he wants to know. "No. Ricky and I had a chat the other day. We got along pretty well and then he kissed me. Because he just split up with Lily, nothing was in our way to try to have a relationship.", I am lying and I hope it's not noticeable. "If you're lying right now, you're good at it", states EJ and clearly doesn't believe me. "Why don't you believe me? Are you jealous?", I am asking him with a grin und get a bit closer to his face. "No. I know that you're playing a game right now. But you will not be the winner this time", EJ replies, pushes me back and passes me by. That hurts. Later, Ricky gives me a little note right in front of Lilys eyes with the words:" I love you, superstar" and suddenly I don't feel the pain anymore. I almost forget that we're only pretending and and give him a bright smile.

The weeks go by and the more time goes by with the game with Ricky, the more my feelings for him grow. I didn't talk to EJ anymore after our little conversation. But with Ricky it's like in the earlier days. We talk much and we're sitting with his friends or Gina, EJ, Kourtney and also Carlos on a table at lunchbreak. On day after school as Ricky accompanies me to from his car to my house, he turns to me. "You're coming to Homecoming with me, right?" "If this is your way to ask a girl to a date you definitely should take more effort. Only because you're the most popular guy at school doesn't mean you don't have to ask me properly", I reply. If I get ask to a date, I want to be asked in the right way. "You're really not the kind of girl the boys are referring to", Ricky says more to himself, but I want to know more about that. "I'm sorry?" "The guys said you're easy to get to. But you're different", he explains with a smile. "I hope so", I grin as an answer. "Until tomorrow, superstar", Ricky says and gives me a kiss on the cheek. This time I have a bright smile on my face and I enjoy the butterflies in my stomach. Oh boy, this boy really controls me- and still it's just a game for him.

The next day I open my locker and a thousand little confettis in the shape of hearts and two tickets to Homecoming are falling out of it. Ricky appears behind me and wraps his arms around me. "Please, be my date to Homecoming", he begs quietly which is tickling my ear and I get goosebumps because of it. Hopefully Ricky doesn't see it. "Of course", I smile and as I recognize that Lily is looking at us in a jealous way, I press my lips on Rickys. Immediately he returns the kiss and pulls me closer. A thousand buttlerflies are whirling up in my body and I try to hold this moment as long as possible. My hands are finding their way in Rickys curls. Rickys friends are whisteling and more than happy I deepen the kiss.

Since this moment Ricky and I are much closer. I actually enjoy spending time with him. One afternoon as I walk by the musicroom, I see him inside sitting at the piano. With a smile I walk towards him. Ricky is concentrating in the notes he is playing and don't recognize me.

"Started out, started out so simple

We were running 'round, running 'round like children

How did we allow, we allow

This story to fall so south?

What were we, what were we both thinking?

We were so naive, so naive believing

We were still happy, still happy

How could I ignore my doubts?
