we got out of the coach and headed inside the stadium with the rest of the team. joão stayed with me the whole time and glared at fernandes whenever he saw him.

i went over to rosia who was sitting on the bench and talked about random things while joão went to get changed in the changing room. she told me about this jealous waitress who spilled water all over her outfit (it's always the damn waitresses)

just then joão came out of the changing rooms so i walked over to him - i could sense his anxiety.

"joão don't forget what i told you earlier." i smiled. "you're an amazing player, you'll do just fine." i squeezed his hand in support as he looked at me and smiled.

"and what if i don't do good?"

"then you're doomed." i shrugged.

"wow. thanks." he said sarcastically, then he smirked. "do i atleast get a goodluck kiss before it starts?"

"hmm, i'll think about it," i smirked back and started to walk away from him - until he grabbed my wrist and pushed me against his chest, holding my waist.

"i think you meant yes." he said as he held my chin and put his lips on mine passionately, i got butterflies at his touch.

"the match is about to start, lovebirds," the coach walked by and rolled his eyes.

"yeah, yeah." joão muttered, annoyed. i laughed and went back to sit on the bench next to rosia. people started to fill in the stands and sit down.

ten minutes later the whistle was blown and the game started. me and rosia watched anxiously, and i kept my eye on joão the whole time.

the first half was soon over with the score being nil. the portugal team had a small pep talk with the coach until the second half started. me and joão made eye contact and i put a thumbs up and smiled.

me and rosia had to close our eyes everytime ghana had a chance to score - but luckily they didn't. it was until ronaldo got fouled and given a penalty. i remember saying that i didn't like ronaldo but now i really needed him to win us this goal.

ronaldo took a deep breathe in and kicked the ball right into the goal. i felt very relieved and sighed.

unfortunately a couple minutes later ghana scored, making the score 1-1.

"noo," rosia groaned and hid her face with her hands.

i thought that it would stay 1-1 but luckily joão got hold of the ball. i watched closely and crossed my fingers, i held my breathe unintentionally.

joão had a clear opportunity to score - and he did. he kicked the ball into the goal and i let out the breathe i was holding. after he scored me looked at me and made a heart with his fingers. i blushed as me and rosia stood up and cheered for him like everyone else.

the game ended with rafael leão scoring one more goal. ghana also scored once more but it didn't matter because portugal had already won.
