Dorian was standing at the sink in the bathroom shaving, a towel around his waist, when Amara walked in. He'd finished working out forty-five minutes before. He knew she was too preoccupied with what she was telling him to notice that he wasn't wearing clothes. She hadn't gotten flustered the way she usually did.
"Why is finding a place to have the joining so hard?" She questioned, hopping onto one of the counters, and Dorian refrained from smiling at how it sounded. She was whining, and he thought it was cute. The more comfortable that she'd become with him, the more she'd opened up, and Dorian was happy they were at a place that was second nature for her.
"I take it that means you didn't like the other places you saw today?" Dorian inquired.
He'd decided he would let her choose where they would join. It didn't matter to him where it was as long as she was happy. So, he'd taken a step back to allow her the freedom to do so. However, it seemed that none of the places Amara had seen met her qualifications.
In a way, Dorian was glad that she seemed a little frustrated. It meant that she wasn't willing to settle on just anything, and he didn't want her to. He'd made it clear to her that she could have whatever she wanted for the joining, no matter the cost, and that he wanted her to have what she felt was perfect. Dorian was glad that she was listening to him.
He'd looked for a few places as well and given them to her when he'd made it back, but it seemed she hadn't liked them. He knew that she wanted something that looked like the garden out back with an abundance of flowers and bushes. Having the wedding at the house was not an option. Dorian didn't like too many people being in his personal space, and he definitely wouldn't open up the house and Amara possibly be in danger. It was one of the reasons he didn't have as large of a staff as the house required.
Dorian did know of another place she could look at. However, it wasn't a venue and was privately owned land. It also wasn't what she'd described to him, so he hadn't mentioned it. At this point, he didn't see what the harm could be in taking her to see it.
Wiping the excess shaving cream from his face, Dorian moved to stand between her legs, placing his hands on her waist.
"Why don't I get dressed, and I'll take you to this place I know of. It isn't necessarily what you told me you wanted, but it wouldn't hurt to look."
Dorian watched as Amara looked him over, and it was the first time she seemed to take in what he was wearing. She ducked her head slightly, and he was sure she was blushing. Dorian didn't think he'd ever get tired of her reacting that way.
Amara's eyes came back up to his as she nodded. "Okay," she responded, stretching her neck slightly. Dorian leaned down and kissed her. With his hands still on her waist, he took a step back, helping her off the counter. Pulling away from the kiss when her feet touched the ground.
Dorian released her and they made their way out of the bathroom. He went into his closet, grabbing a pair of jeans and a dark gray v-neck shirt along with a pair of socks and matching sneakers. He got dressed after moisturizing and sprayed on some cologne.
They made their way downstairs, and instead of Dorian having the luxury car brought around, he decided to drive. They made their way into the garage, and Dorian grabbed the keys to the sports car. Unlocking the doors and opening the passenger side for Amara.
Where he was taking her would be a half-hour drive. It was land owned by a family his had known since he was younger. Their house sat in the front but they owned the land behind it for several acres.
As they drove, Amara flipped through the radio stations, stopping on songs she liked and humming along with them. It reminded Dorian that still needed to choose music for the joining.
