Maddie POV

I stayed in my room for hours, trying to get myself together.

"MADISON!" I heard my dad call from downstairs.

I didn't move. I stayed on the floor, my face buried in a pillow, sobbing.

"MADISON?" I heard again but still didn't move.

The door opened and my dad stepped through. I didn't look up but I tried to stop my tears.

"Maddie what's wrong?" He asked, sitting down next to me.

"She lied to me, she lied," I muttered, my voice barely audible.

"She only did it to protect you," He told me.

"She still lied," I shook my head.

"I know, I know," He hugged me and I closed my eyes, hoping that I could wake up and Ash would still be there.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was watching Ash from a third person perspective.

She was standing in her room, pacing around, her eyes red and puffy as if she had been crying.

I tried to reach out to grab her hand but i didn't seem to have a body.

I watched as Ash dug through her satchel, pulling out some rope. She walked over to her window, opened it and threw it out the window. She walked over to her bedpost and tied the other end of the rope to it.

She glanced out the window then started to climb out of the window and climbed down.

I wanted to yell at her to stop. Something gave me a bad feeling about this.

I watched her climb down until no part of her was visible from where I was.

Then I jerked awake. I jumped out of my bed, running down the stairs.

I grabbed my bag, throwing some stuff into it.

I wrote a quick letter, explaining to my dad that I was ok.

Then I ran outside and pulled myself up on a horse, setting off as fast as I could towards the Palace.
