"Seriously Y/N why are you going out with him?" Shawn asked me for the hundredth time this week.

"Seriously Shawn why do you care so much?" I retorted.

"I- uh- just answer the question!" he said, face turning a light shade of pink.

I laughed "He's cute! And he couldn't even ask without stuttering! How am I supposed to say no to that?" I finally answered.

"So any guy with a stutter asks you out and you'll say yes?" Shawn asked, resulting in a light slap from me.

"Shut up" I told him sitting at my desk in history. The truth is, I have no idea why I agreed to go out with Peter. Yeah it was cute when he asked me out, but I've never spoken to the guy before! I guess it's too late to worry about this now. Our date is tonight.

This is it! The night of my big date! I threw on my only pair of unripped jeans, a Metallica shirt I found at a garage sale, and a leather jacket. I went down to the kitchen, where I saw Cory and Shawn sitting and facing the stairs. "What are you two doing? You look ridiculous."

"We're waiting for your date. Dad isn't home so we get to interrogate him." Cory said gesturing from himself to Shawn.

"No. Absolutely not. Go upstairs. Now." I commanded them pointing to the steps. Shawn opened his mouth to speak when a knock came from the front door. "That's Peter. Act normal, no interrogation."

I went over to the front door and opened it to find Peter standing there. "Hey Y/N. You look amazing!" he said looking me up and down.

His eyes make me slightly uncomfortable but I shook the thought off and replied, "Thanks you don't look to shabby either." I closed the door and walked beside Peter in silence for a few moments.

"So I was thinking we could go see a movie and then dinner?" Peter suggested.

"Sounds perfect! And that new Van Damme movie just opened!" I said actually starting to get excited about this.

"Oh I don't really like Van Damme..." Peter said.

"Oh well what movie did you wanna see then?"

"I was thinking Dumb and Dumber!"

That sounded terrible, but he just looked so excited. "Sounds great!"

We continued to walk to the movie theater. Peter offered to pay for the tickets and the popcorn. I appreciated the gesture but I can help pay too, I'm not useless just because I'm a girl. We sat towards the back of the theater and Peter held my hand almost immediately. It was sweet, but sweaty. For the next two hours I sat through quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. Peter laughed at all the jokes though so I laughed with him. After the movie we walked over to Chubbies and sat in a corner booth.

"Great movie right?" Peter said a giant smile
covering his face.

"Yeah it was fun" I said not wanting to ruin his mood.

"Should I go order two burgers?" He asked.

"Yes I'm starving! Make sure there's fries" I told him as he walked away.

Peter came back a minute later his huge smile still planted on his face. "You really do look amazing" He said sitting next to me.

"Thanks. I'm glad you invited me out" I replied. Before I knew what was happening Peter grabbed my face and kissed me. It wasn't a bad kiss. It really wasn't, but I simply didn't feel anything. I closed my eyes and kissed him back trying to feel something, anything, even if it's bad. There was just nothing. I pushed him away and ended the kiss.

"What's wrong?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "Was the kiss bad?"

"No. It wasn't bad." I said still trying to figure out how I wanted to phrase the next part.

"Then what?"

"I'm sorry. You're a really sweet guy Peter, but I just don't think I feel anything. I'm still glad I went out with you but I think this should be our last date" I said slowly trying not to hurt him.

"But it's just the first date! You might feel something later!" He protested.

"I don't think so. I think I should leave" I said getting up from the booth and running home.

I walked into the house and leaned against the front door letting out a long sigh. "So how was the date lover-girl" Shawn's voice almost made me jump
out of my skin.

"Fist of all: don't call me that. Second of all: it was... okay" I said plopping myself on the couch next to him. "Why are you still here anyway?"

"Didn't feel like going home" Shawn shrugged off my question. "An okay isn't bad. When's the next date?"

"Never" I replied resting my chin on my hand.

"He kissed you huh?"

"Yep"

"Bad kiss?"

"Not bad per say, just not... good." I tried to explain.

"Ah the infamous 'lack of spark'. It's a killer" Shawn said as if he was a kissing expert, which to be fair he kinda is.

"I'm still glad I went out with him. It feels like this 'first date' weight is off my shoulder. I do feel bad though, he was a sweet kid" I said leaning my head on Shawn's shoulder.

"Don't feel bad, like you said it was one date. Who cares right"

"I guess you're right. Goodnight Shawn" I said heading upstairs. When I was halfway up the steps I yelled down "Go home!"
