Cain gave me a neutral expression and rolled his eyes as he stuffed his shirt into his back pocket. I finished getting dressed and walked over to him, smiling ear to ear. "I'm not sorry; it was worth it," I said honestly while running my hands down his chest.

He looked down at me. "Yea, I can tell." Cain then smacked my ass hard. "Now, move that pretty little ass of yours." He said, a smirk forming on his lips.

We began to walk back to the bike, not rushing and just taking our time. I looked up at Cain. "Thank you for doing this tonight; I really enjoyed it," I said genuinely; it was something I needed, something we needed.

Cain stopped in his tracks and turned to look at me, smiling down at me. "Good, I'm glad, and I enjoyed this evening as well." He winked, and I shook my head at him. Cain then pulled me into him, wrapping his arm around my shoulder, but as we neared the bike, Cain came to an abrupt stop.

"We need to leave, now!" He said gruffly, then grabbed my hand, and we started to run towards the packhouse. The drive here hadn't taken us too long, so hopefully, we weren't as far as I feared. Finally, after running for a few minutes, we came to a stop, and Cain looked at me with a questioning expression, "Do you think your wolf could keep up with mine if we were to shift?" He bluntly asked me.

I answered without hesitation, "Yes, she can. I think it's best if we shift too, we will make it back to the packhouse faster." I was beyond confident in my wolf's abilities. Cain gave me a curt nod, and then we took positions, readying ourselves for the change. Just as our wolves were about to come forward, a snapping branch caught our attention, ceasing the shift.

Our heads whipped in the direction of the noise, but we couldn't see anything. I could feel the anxiety and tension rolling through Cain as his gaze roamed all around us. I went to his side, not wanting us to be apart and more vulnerable. He looked down at me, a tender expression masking his features for a beat before hardening again. Suddenly, a figure appeared from behind a tree, and they stepped into the light, a devilish grin on their face. "Hello, brother." Standing before us was Calyx, meaning the plan was in motion, and we were not prepared for this at all.

Calyx stepped closer to us, and Cain's entire body stiffened as he shoved me behind him. I didn't particularly appreciate that he was shielding me, but I understood that he wanted to protect me and right now was not the time to argue about it.

Cain let out a low and deadly snarl as his eyes bore into those of his very own brother. "Calyx." Cain said through gritted teeth, "What are you doing here?" He questioned him, authority and dominance heavy in his tone.

Calyx grinned deviously. "You know exactly what I'm doing here, don't you, brother?" Calyx turned his gaze to me now. "So do you, Freja." Cain looked over his shoulder, staring down at me with confusion. I didn't say anything because I wouldn't lie to him. So instead, I looked away from him and at the ground, but then I remembered Calyx saying that Cain knew too. I looked back up at Cain, narrowing my eyes at him, and he huffed, then turned back to Calyx.

Cain straightened himself. "You are right. I know why you are here and what you are here to do, but I must ask, why are you doing this, Calyx?" He questioned his brother, ferocity lacing his tone.

Now, fury was etched on Calyx's features. "Because I am supposed to be Alpha, not you! I am the oldest, and the title of Alpha goes to the oldest." He bellowed out as he shook with rage.

Cain's body went rigid. "You know damn well the reason as to why I am the Alpha, and you aren't." Cain was using every last bit of strength he had to contain his beast from being freed.

. After I had gotten rid of dear old mom and dad, the plan was to get rid of you next, but you grew with power after their death, and things proved to be more challenging than I expected, then this bitch shows up." He pointed at me, and Cain growled threateningly. Calyx just rolled his eyes, then pulled a knife out from behind his back. He gazed at it as if he remembered something dear to him. Calyx then looked up at Cain. "This is the knife I used on mom and dad. Now, I'm going to kill you with it." His eyes turned black, and he bared his teeth, growling. Cain shoved me back as he lunged at Calyx, roaring like a beast. I stumbled backwards, my back colliding with a tree, but as I looked up, I realized it wasn't a tree but was instead a large, burly-looking vampire.

I jumped forward and turned around to face the bloodsucker. The vamp's fangs elongated as he smiled wickedly at me. I readied myself for the fight, remembering everything that Gunnar had taught me, but then, two more men emerged from the trees on my left, one of them who I remembered all too well, Lazarus.

I snarled, my wolf scratching at the surface, wanting to tear his flesh from his body. He smiled and chuckled. "So feisty, that was the one thing I admired about you, your bravery. I find it quite entertaining that a female werewolf is dumb enough to be so bold with a vampire. But it's all the more reason to rip your head from your body." Lazarus grinned.

I growled and bared my teeth, ready to attack, but then a familiar voice came from behind me. "Now, now, sister, I don't want you getting yourself killed just yet; that's for me to do." Adela's voice rang in my ears. I turned around slowly, bewildered at the sight of my sister. My brows furrowed together in confusion. "Adela?" I asked in astonishment.

She smiled. "The one and only, unless you know another Adela." She joked. I was beyond confused at this moment and needed answers.

"What are you doing here?" I asked her curiously.

Adela sighed. "Well, my dear sister, I am here to kill you." She said bluntly and shrugged her shoulders as if it was no big deal.

My brows shot up in surprise, and shock spread throughout me. "This is a joke, right? You can't be serious?" I asked in disbelief, unable to comprehend the fact that my little sister wanted to kill me.

She shook her head. "No, this is not a joke." Adela stated, then pulled a knife out from her boot, "You are going to die tonight, Freja and by my hand." She sneered.

I stood there, unable to move or speak a word, as I looked at the woman I had grown up with and who now wanted my blood. She was my sister, and I had no idea what her reasoning could be for doing this.
