Chapter 35

Nineteen long hours had passed since Hunter had personally carried Crosshair through the doors of the hospital, fifteen hours had passed since Kix personally got pulled into the surgery. According to a nurse, Crosshair was lucky to be alive and required a blood donation. Tech and Omega were the lucky ones to donate since Crosshair had to have the rarest blood type ever. The three relied on each other for blood donation. 

During these hours, Howzer and Fox had been arrested on suspicions of terrorism and Cody was still missing. The police force were desperately trying to find the commander who had dropped off the grid. It was said the last person who had contact with him was Crosshair himself, the marksman obviously was unavailable. Rex, Jesse, Ahsoka and Amber sat around the waiting room waiting on the news. 

“Father, will dad make it?” Omega asked from beside Hunter who snapped out of his thoughts. Wrecker was playing with Naomi while her twin younger brother was in Echo’s arms, Hera was taking apart some device Tech had given her. The kids were fairly quiet in the waiting room. Considering it had been Nineteen long hours and they had been in the private room one of the nurses had given them to pass the time. 

“He has to” Hunter murmured, lifting an arm for her to snuggle close, Omega did just that, offering him a chocolate while she was at it. Hunter smiled accepting one, he passed it to the silent Fives right by side, not wanting to upset Omega. Fives ate it while he remained staring down at the floor. Wrecker looked across to his brother who was wearing a blank expression, it was mirrored on many of their faces. 

“What’s taking so long?” Tech thought out-loud as he wrapped his arms around Hera. Echo moved to wrap an arm around his husband who leaned close to him. The question didn’t receive a vocal answer as the room was disturbed by the doors opening quite violently. 

All heads turned to see Kix standing in the doorway, the doctor looked furious as another nurse appeared beside him only to rush past intending on going somewhere else. 

“How is he?!” Rex asked for them all, Kix could only smile, “The little twat is awake and talking. He wants to see Hunter, Tech and Fives”. The three were quick to get up and follow the nurse through the corridors leaving Kix to deal with the others in the waiting room. Jesse was quick to wrap him up in a hug knowing his husband needed it, Kix sunk into Jesse’s arms. The others decided to give the two a minute knowing Kix had probably seen the worst of the marksman while the others only caught a glimpse. 

It took a whole minute for Kix to compose himself and when he did he frowned noticing something was off, closing his eyes he sighed when Jesse pressed up against his back whispering words of reassurance. With a deep breath Kix turned to the room, “It was a close one, I lost him three times. He is very lucky to be alive, he will live but he has a long recovery time ahead of him” Kix explained, knowing he couldn’t let out too much personal information of the patient without his consent. Relief spread through the room until something caught Kix’s eye, he groaned seeing Obi-wan stalking into the room with his smug expression. 

“Matthias Steiner, you are under arrest for terrorism and for doing illegal work. Please place your hands behind your back. Anything you say from this point forward can and will be used against you” Obi-wan said, Kix remained frozen in place with a glare as Jesse clung to him. 

“No,” Kix said, backing away from all three officers in the room, “No? Kix. Just go with it, we can sort everything out at the station” Rex explained, Jesse remained silent knowing he would have to step in if Kix didn’t hand himself over and the last thing Jesse wanted to do was arrest his husband. 

“Kix, I have asked you politely. Either come with us willingly or we take you in. I handled Fox, trust me. I can handle you” Obi-wan exclaimed, Kix glared at the man holding his hands out in a sign of defeat. Obi-wan grimaced as he handcuffed the doctor who refused to look any of them in the eye. Rex was then tasked to take him back to the station with Obi-wan.
