Astra's POV:"We have an important mission for you and it's extremely dangerous. Are you sure you can handle this?" Sargent said to me with a stern look.
"Oh please. I fear no danger." I said smirking widely.
"This is serious Astra. I really need to make sure you're ok and safe at all times." My smirk quickly faded at this statement and my heart went stone cold as we continued the conversation on a serious matter.
"I am certain I can do this. All the other ones before now have went according to all of my plans. This one shouldn't be any different." I said confidently.
"Yes, but that's the thing. This one is very different. It involves the killers of your parents." My eyes perked up at this as all the memories that lead me to this point start to flood in. I was at school when it all happened. When my entire life changed.
I was walking home from school. Since the school was not far from home I'd always walk. While walking with a group of friends we saw a police car drive by. The wind started to blow a little more as shortly after an ambulance and more cops drove by. I started to get a weird feeling. It was a sensation like I had to use the restroom but I knew that I didn't. It felt different. Like something in my gut was telling my to run and never look back. Like something bad has already taken place and indeed that feeling was correct. As I entered my neighborhood I saw my house tapped in a yellow colored tape with the words, "DO NOT ENTER" all around it. A huge crowd of people surrounded house. The police, fire fighters, investigators, and the press were all here. It seemed as everyone's attention was captured by the police so I used my short height as an advantage and crawled under the tape quickly running into the house before anyone noticed it.
A house that I once knew seemed halfway burnt to ruins. It was barely standing yet it mustered all the strength to continue going on. I walked inside to see red everywhere. All over the walls that were still standing with the house. The kitchen was completely disoriented and you can tell there was a fight that broke out in here. It seemed unusual since my parents never fought and that's when it hit me. "Where are my parents?" I thought as I quickly ran upstairs and opened the shifty door to see my parents' room burned. The black marks from the fire was everywhere yet there was still some small parts of the original wall showing. Those parts contained the color of red splattered all over them. I ran to the door which lead to my room, opening the door frantically hoping to find my parents in there. Everything was completely burned to a crisp and yet I found no bodies or silhouettes similar to that of my parents. I ran outside the house and is met by a sight I wish I never saw.
There they were. My parents lying on the portable hospital bed. Dead. My mother's wrists were burned and her clothes exposed her knees and her stomach. She had a huge gash in her head. My father's stomach was split wide open for all of his organs to leak out. His head also contained a burn on it and his clothes exposed his entire body. They were both here. Lifeless on the spot. My body was frozen. It was as if time itself stopped and shot me in the stomach. I couldn't speak. All I could do was feel the river of tears that were quickly descending from my eyes. My body reacted quicker than I could and I instantly threw up everything I ate at school. This brought a lot of attention towards me as everyone begin to stare and slowly their eyes begin to fill with sorrow, regret, and even pity at the realization that I am the daughter of the two that died. A lot of people came up to me hugging me, trying to calm me down, telling me that everything will be alright.
Some came up to me telling me they know exactly what it felt like losing a parent. They may have but that didn't matter to me. They were gone and the police didn't find who murdered them or burned down my house. All of my belongings were burned along with the love and memories that lived in that house.
Present Time
"ASTRA!" I snapped back into reality as I noticed the Sargent yell my name. I nodded for him to continue and he sighed before doing so.
"We got Intel that they are here in Westbrook. What for? We have no idea yet. You are going to be going undercover as a college student in order to find out who Cassie is and what is her objective in their plan. Are you ready for this?"
"Yes. I am." I said getting up and receiving the file on Cassie to know a little basic information about her.
"Oh and by the way you are going to be having two partners with two extras as stand by. One will be your dorm mate which you will meet once you go to the college and the other will be someone you are very familiar with." He said smirking. I rolled my eyes as he continued to leave things a mystery.
"Well let's hope this partner of mine isn't slow ass hell, can't do anything right, and is a fucking retard." I said sarcastically.
"No your partner is Carmela." He said as my eyes went wide at the thought of that name. You have got to be kidding me.
"Are you serious?! That's even worse! That crackhead on steroids is coming with me?!" I said slamming my hand on the desk.
"Um for the record I heard that. And is that anyway to talk about your best friend?" She said smirking at me.
"Goddamnit she's here." I said under my breathe as I hang my head down low. This is going to be one hell of a mission.
