8 hours after the flare was fired...
Somewhere in Russia...
Shadow POV
Shadow: cough! What the...
I looked around and I was hanging upside down. I couldn't feel my legs.
I was hanging on a few wires inside some broken building. I pulled my knife out and cut the wires.
I dropped to the floor and back hit the ground.
Shadow: ugh... why do I always get into this type of stuff?
I tired to get up but quickly fell down again. My legs are too sore from all the hanging. How long was I hanging from the ceiling?
I checked my clock but it was just glitching for some reason. Don't use digital clocks kids.
I grabbed my TAC-50 that was on the ground and holstered it on my back. I then crawled to the nearest wall and rested for a bit.
Shadow: where am I?
I don't recognize this place. All this ruble is making it difficult to move around. I finally got up and my legs were able to carry my weight again.
I need to find out where the douchebag of a team leader is.
I grabbed my radio but it was completely destroyed. I can't use this...
Guess I'll stay alone for now... just like how it has always been...
I tried to find my way outside of this dump but all the rubble made that really difficult. I soon found some sort of exit and finally went outside.
My eyes adjusted to the light and I was astonished.
Shadow: the sun... it's shining?
I looked around and it was really strange. This was some sort of overgrown city. Grass was reaching out of the streets and plants took the building over.
How long was I gone? What is this? Is this what happened after the Killing Machine broke the barrier?
I was just... I don't know... this feels... so strange...
I just kept on walking around and took in the environment. You don't get to see this in Nevada. All this wasteland replaced with green...
But then I snapped out of my trance. I need to focus on who I am and what I'm supposed to do.
I checked my hud and equipment for any clue on where the rest are. I quickly checked the last things my visor recorded and soon found a spot where a N51 flare was shot. Guess that's my target now.
I'm now going into the correct direction I think. The ping was 8 hours ago... let's hope that I'm not too late...
It was a pretty long hike but I finally arrived at the woods. I snuck through the trees and activated my visor. I need to be on edge around here.
I soon found some dirt road and started to follow it. I soon reached an intersection and noticed tire tracks on it.
I crouched down and analyzed the tracks.
Shadow: heavy car... presumably troop transport... pretty fresh too... damn I need to be careful then...
I got up and followed the tracks. Firing a flare would get you all kind of attention. My guess is that they went to the exact same location I want to go to.
I pulled my rifle out and carefully followed the tracks while keeping my eye on my surroundings.
I can't be caught off guard here... I don't have any support so I'd die like a fly if I'm spotted in the open...
