Louis is nervous. And not like the time he had nearly been arrested for peeing in an ally beside a pub or even the time he came out to his mom, he's terrified.
Niall has given Louis his coffee and he sips it anxiously, bouncing in his bar stool.
"You okay there?" Niall asks cautiously.
"Hm? Oh yeah, fine. 'Nother cup of coffe would be great." Louis replies, distractedly, staring at the entrance.
"Maybe some decaf this time?" Niall mumbles. "He'll come. He always comes."
Louis nods. He knows. He's just really really worried Harry will wake up with a random number in his phone and not think anything of it.
After biting his nails nearly to bloody stumps, a particularly lovely looking Harry comes stumbling through the door.
"Niall, hi!" He beams.
"Hey Harry, how's it going?" Niall smiles. "Waffles?"
Harry grins wider. "How'd you guess?"
Niall shrugs. Louis stares.
Harry goes and sits at the window with his waffles and begins making a house once more. Louis' heart hurts.
He didn't even look at Louis. He doesn't remember him.
He watches Harry anyways, because he's still the most beautiful and decimating creature to ever grace the earth.
Harry glances back at him after a few minutes. His emerald eyes study his face for a few seconds before returning to his pancake building. Louis continues blatantly staring and Harry looks up a few more times. He doesn't look creeped out though, is the thing. If a guy watched you play with your food for six minutes you'd probably be freaked out, but Harry just studies him curiously as Louis is doing to him.
After about fifteen minutes Harry gets up and leans against the counter and starts speaking to Niall some more. Louis admires his lean legs. He's wondering what Harry would look like in spandex doing yoga on the beach when he suddenly tunes back into Niall and Harry's conversation.
"So anyways I woke up this morning with a text from some guy who I have absolutely no memory of. I think it might be one of my students' parents maybe?" Harry says, picking at the countertop with his nail.
Niall bites back a smile and sneaks a glance at Louis before replying.
"What did they say?" He chirps.
"It says 'Good morning! Have a wonderful day you lovely human being!'" Harry reads aloud and Louis actually kind of hates himself in that moment because that sounds a lot dumber out loud.
Niall stifles a chuckle before replying.
"That's so stup-"
"Sweet." Harry interrupts. "Very sweet but still doesn't change the fact that I have no idea who this 'Lewis Tomlinson' fella is."
Louis coughs and cringes at the mispronunciation of his name. Both Niall and Harry turn to look at him.
"Uh, hi." Louis squeaks. Smooth.
Harry opens his mouth to reply and tips over a glass of orange juice somehow with his elbow.
"Oops." He says with an innocent smile.
"I'm um...I'm Louis." He blurts and Harry's face contorts into confusion.
"Uh hello. I'm Harry. How'd you get my phone number?" Harry replies slowly but then rushes to say, "not being rude or anything the message was lovely very kind of you. Thanks."
