Telling Olivia that they both needed to get ready because they were going to a restaurant was kind of painful. Not only was it awkward because Sawyer never liked telling people to get themselves ready, but Olivia also didn't understand her the first time.
Sawyer literally had to repeat herself twice just for Olivia to actually understand what she meant. And, sure, most of that could totally be blamed on her weird mumbling rather than Olivia, but she still wanted the floor to entirely swallow her in the process.
But the embarrassment was surely all worth it in the end, since they were now sat at their table, hands lightly holding the menu. They had arrived just a couple minutes earlier, their drive being no shorter than thirty minutes, which felt just the slightest bit lengthy.
They were in such a secluded side of the restaurant, that Sawyer literally couldn't see the other customers from where she sat, and she didn't know how to feel about it. Maybe she felt slightly weird, since she couldn't really shake off the pit inside of her stomach.
Maybe, that odd feeling in Sawyer's stomach was because she totally hadn't been to this exact place before, and there was no being sure if she would even enjoy or eat the dishes offered. Though, she could probably just get something off the children's menu.
No real time to think about it, though, since the waiter came up and asked for their orders a minute later. Sawyer got Olivia to order for both of them, and she mostly communicated by sheepishly pointing at something on the menu rather than actual speaking.
When the waiter walked away, Sawyer felt like she could relax again and started counting down the many minutes that their food was going to take. Sawyer easily pushed the timer to the back of her mind as Olivia began talking to her, a smile on her lips.
Before she even knew it, their food was being placed on the table right as her and Olivia's conversation about random topics smoothly came to an end. Sawyer softly felt her mouth dry up as she mustered up the courage to say thanks, and she managed to do it.
Without wasting any more time, they began eating right after that. Sawyer easily dug into a small plate of chicken strips, warm blood rushing into her cheeks when she noticed that Olivia was grinning at her in true endearment, eating her own plate of food.
All throughout the time that they ate, Sawyer never felt her body cool down. It just stayed perfectly warm, a truly gentle reminder of how Olivia could and made her feel, even when she wasn't saying a single word and only gave Sawyer looks from across the table.
When they finished eating, Sawyer quickly paid for their meal and immediately got on her two feet, hand out for Olivia to grab. She frantically brought Olivia to the car, heart racing from the adrenaline rush of being outside and making sure that no one spotted them.
Her cheeks literally hurt from grinning so much, but Sawyer just couldn't help herself from doing it again when Olivia bursted into laughter. Sawyer truly knew that she was probably so red from the strong heat she generated, from her toes to the tips of her ears.
In a few minutes, they arrived at the small park. The sky was already filled with stars, and Sawyer marveled at the sight for a moment before shakily getting out the car and walking alongside Olivia, instantly moving away and hiding from the other people.
"Well, there's a lot of people here," she spoke, sheepish.
"It's fine. Unless you wanna go back to your place? Or mine, that's fine, too."
"I'll manage. It's our first fancy-type date, anyway."
Olivia responded by lightly chuckling at Sawyer's answer.
