Serena lay on her bed staring at her white, boring ceiling. Her radio was playing in the background, taking up most of her attention. She mumbled the lyrics of the song, her blue eyes never once leaving the ceiling. She sighed as the song ended and there was a moment of silence before the next one started up. She was so bored! Not even a bit tired, she flipped back onto her bed with a grunt.

Tonight was one of those rare moments. All her homework finished before midnight and packed in her bag and she wasn't even tired. Not even a wink. Even worse was she wasn't hungry either. All her dinner actually satisfied her and she had no desire to eat more, at least in the next five hours. She furrowed her brows as she continued to stare at her ceiling with a frown.

'Where is Luna?' She thought for a moment before she sighed deeply and smushed her face into a pillow.

'Of course, the one night I actually have nothing to do she isn't here to nag me! I can't believe she chose tonight to stay with Mina and Artemis.'

Serena resisted the urge to scream into her pillow.

A soft tapping sound interrupted her self loathing. Lifting her face from the pillow, she turned to her window and stared at it for a moment.

Tap tap.

She quickly rolled off of her bed and walked to her window. Pulling the curtains back, she unlocked the window and pulled it open. She stuck her head out for it just to smash into something hard and warm.

"Ow...." Serena mumbled as a deep, masculine voice laughed. Looking up, she found herself face to face with none other than her boyfriend. A grin was planted on his face, his black locks falling into his deep blue eyes.

"Not that I'm not pleased, but what are you doing sitting in my tree so late?" She asked. He smiled warmly.

"Aren't you gonna invite me in first?" He teased, pointing through the window at her room. She smiled sheepishly and moved out of the way, gesturing with her hand for him to come in. He climbed through the window with ease, then turned and closed the window.

"So now are you going to tell me what you're doing here so late? Don't you have that big test tomorrow?" She asked, placing her hands on her hips.

He turned to her and stared at her for a moment before striding to her in one quick movement. Pulling her into his arms, he placed his mouth beside her ear and kissed the sensitive spot behind her ear, making her shudder.

"I missed you." He whispered before giving her a passionate kiss. They pulled apart out of breath. Serena leaned her head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat, making herself comfortable in his warm embrace.

"It's only been a day since we've last seen each other, Dare." She whispered. He gently pushed her back a little away from his chest and cupped her cheek in his hand.

"A day too long." he replied, resting his forehead against hers.

She sighed happily and pulled out of his embrace. Grabbing his large hand in her dainty one, she pulled him over to lay on her bed next to her. Once they were settled, she cuddled up next to him and he wrapped his arms around her small body, holding her close.

"Are you going to stay here with me all night?" She asked, hearing a new song play in the background.

"If you want me to." She lifted her head from his chest and looked at him.

"I really want you to." He smiled and kissed her nose.

"Then I will."

They laid in silence for awhile, Darien running his hands through Serena's hair as the glowing red numbers on her alarm clock indicated it was five minutes later. It was Darien who broke the silence.

"So what do you want for your birthday?"

Serena lifted her head from his chest, the music coming from her stereo registering in her mind and waking her up as she was beginning to fall asleep. She looked at him with curious eyes.

"Why do you ask?" He smiled and began toying with a strand of golden hair.

"Well, it's May now, and your birthday is next month, which isn't very long. So, I was wondering, what would you like for your birthday?" Serena laid her head back on his chest and stared up at the ceiling.

"Well...nothing really." Darien lifted an eyebrow at that statement.

"Nothing? Not even a certain necklace? Or manga? How about jewelry? Clothes?" Serena laughed and grabbed his hand, intertwining their fingers.

"Honestly, I don't want anything. I already have everything I could ever want. I have amazing friends, a caring family, and the best boyfriend in the whole world." She leaned up and kissed his cheek. He smiled and brushed her bangs out of her eyes.

"But you deserve the world." He whispered, kissing her forehead.
She looked up at him intently for a few seconds, then wrapped her arms around his neck and stuffed her face into his neck.

"You are my world." Her whisper was barely audible, but he heard it loud and clear. Cupping her face in his hands, he pressed his lips to hers hungrily. She immediately responded, pouring her love for him into the kiss, him doing the same. They pulled apart, both out of breath, and just held on to each other for the rest of the night, both finally drifting to sleep as the clock struck midnight.

Serena awoke the next morning to the sunlight shining through her window. She rubbed her eyes and laid in her bed for a moment, waking herself up completely. She turned to her clock, which showed she had ten minutes before her alarm was to ring. She sighed and stretched her arms, stopping when she felt something soft brush up against her left arm. Turning her head to the side, she saw a perfect red rose laying on the pillow next to her. She smiled and gently picked up the rose, twirling it in her fingers and sniffing it's sweet scent occasionally.

Her mother came in at that precise moment, apron on and spatula in hand. Her mom stood there for a moment, stunned to see Serena already awake. She finally shook herself out of her shocked state and smiled at her finally maturing daughter.

"You should start getting dressed for school sweetie. Maybe today you'll be able to have some breakfast." She winked at her daughter and closed the door behind her.

Serena got ready for school in less than ten minutes. She bounded down the stairs happily, smelling the sweet scent of pancakes and bacon. She walked into the kitchen, kissing her dad on the cheek and hugging her mom. She sat down at the kitchen table and tapped her fingers on the tabletop as her mom finished up breakfast.

Finally, her mom set a plate down with her breakfast on it. Before Serena could dig in, her mom tapped her shoulder and gave her a small smile.

"You know honey, if Darien wanted to come over last night and spend the night, he could've just asked and walked through the front door instead of risk hurting himself by climbing your tree in the dark."

Serena's eyes widened as she watched her mother let out a chuckle. She turned to her dad, surprise and worry etched on her face.

Her dad just smirked, winked, nodded his head then turned his attention back to his newspaper.

Serena sat with her jaw dropped open as her pancakes got cold.
