Noah's POV:

"How dare you raise your voice at me?" His hand rises, ready to strike her. Fury boils inside me as I grab his wrist mid-air. The thought of him being so cruel to a woman disgusts me.

"Don't even think about touching her again," I say, my voice low and lethal, my gaze locking onto his with unwavering intensity.

His response is a dark, twisted chuckle. "Has the little whore captured your heart, huh?" He sneers, and I catch a glimpse of Rose's face turning scarlet with embarrassment.

"We're getting married," I blurt out.

What the hell did I just say? The words spill out before I can stop them, and the room falls into stunned silence. Even I'm shocked. But it's too late to take it back now.

My father's eyes narrow, disbelief and amusement mixing on his face. "Son, we both know you're not the marrying type. Why the lie?"

I've done it to protect Isabella from him. The only way to keep her safe from his grasp is to make her family—my family. "Believe it or not, the wedding's this Thursday."

I still can't bring myself to look at Rose. I know she's furious, and she has every right to be.

"Fine, then," my father says, a cruel smile spreading across his face. "I'll be there to witness it." He steps closer to Rose, leaning in just enough to make her uncomfortable. "Congratulations, Isabella. But remember, this isn't over." His words drip with malice as he turns and exits, leaving the door slamming shut behind him.

As soon as he's gone, Rowan collapses into a chair, and Daniel runs a hand through his hair in frustration. Silence fills the room, thick and heavy.

Rose doesn't move from behind me. She must still be in shock. "What the hell just happened?" Rowan asks, bewildered.

I don't have an answer. The sound of Rose's footsteps running up the stairs echoes through the house, followed by the slam of her bedroom door. "I know this is insane," I admit, staring at the floor. "But marrying her is the only way to save her."

Rowan shakes his head. "You're trying to convince us, but you really need to convince her."

Daniel remains silent, pacing back and forth, lost in his thoughts.

I head upstairs, determined to check on Rose. She hasn't taken her medication yet, and I can't let her skip it. I knock on her door, but there's no response. "Rose," I call out, but still, nothing.

"I'm coming in," I announce, pushing the door open. I spot her on the balcony, sitting on the ledge, staring out into the night.

"Rose," I say, stepping onto the balcony. She turns to face me, her eyes soft and warm despite everything. It's that look that always makes me feel at ease around her. "We need to talk," I add, trying to avoid her gaze.
