Aurora, Hermione, Harry and Ron set off to find a compartment and soon found one about halfway through the train. They stowed their luggage away before bounding down the corridor of the train again, wanting to say bye to their families.
Harry walked up to Lily and James the same time Eléa came sprinting behind him, running from Fred and George as if her life depended on it.
"You do have everything, right darling?" Lily nervously smoothed his hair down. Escaping her grip, Harry artfully mussed up his hair again and said, "Mum, stop worrying. I'm a fourth year now, remember?" He grinned.
She rolled her eyes and smiled softly. "Yes, I know, darling. Just don't forget your tie this year. I am not going to send it back."
"Mum, it was one time." He whined. She smiled again before turning to Eléa. She reached out to smooth the small wisps of hair flying from her French braid and let her hand drag across her cheek. Eléa turned to face her mum after cursing Fred and George for ruining her hair. As she looked up to her mum's face, smiling, she saw tears in her eyes.
"Mum are you- are you crying? " She asked incredulously. Harry turned around, wearing an expression almost identical to Eléa's, only with a hint of fear.
Lily quickly wiped her eyes and then replied, "Of course not, it's just- my babies are growing up. I still remember the way Harry would cling to your father's leg all the time, and how you wouldn't stop sucking your thumb and how-" She took a deep breath. James quickly reached her side and put a comforting arm around her waist.
"Don't mind your mother, she's missing the days when she could shut you up with a-"
"James!"
"What? I was just saying how you got so ann-"
"James!"
"Fine."
She turned back to her children and kissed them both on the cheek.
"Have fun, you two." She said. She smiled at James, who also had a twinkle in his eyes.
By that time, Harry had turned away and ran towards Ron, Hermione, and Aurora, who had already said their goodbyes and were waiting for him. Furiously wiping his mother's kiss off his cheek, he followed them onto the train and into their compartment.
They waved bye to their families and turned back to each other.
"So, what d'you think they were all yapping about back there?" Ron grabbed Aurora handbag and dug for the snacks that he knew she put in for him.
"Dunno, do I? S'pose something big, from the way they wer-"
Harry was interrupted by their compartment door banging open, revealing a rather tall blonde-haired boy around their age.
He turned towards Aurora and stepped in slightly haughtily and smirked.
"I've come to grace you with my presence this year, as I do every year, my dear Aurea."
"Malfoy." Harry's voice wrung in the short silence after Draco's statement.
Draco turned around and gave a polite dip of the chin towards Harry.
"Potter." He turned to Ron and Hermione. "Weasley. Weas-Granger." He cleared his throat awkwardly before turning back to Aurora, and a loving smile appeared on his face.
"Come, I have something to show you. I made it myself." He stretched his out for her to grab and she quickly took it. She stood up and made her way to the door with him before turning around.
"I'll be back in a few minutes. Make sure to grab some Cauldron Cakes for me if the Trolley Witch comes 'round."
She walked out with Draco, still holding his warm hand. He pulled her into a dark compartment and shut the door, making sure the curtain were shut tight and not even a slither of light was showing.
"Ok, whatever you do, do not open the curtain until I say so. It needs light at the perfect time."
"3...2...1! Now!" She scrambled to the curtains and pulled them open, and what she saw amazed her. On the floor of the compartment was a small bush of flowers. They look like roses. She thought. But from the way they shone, and the shades of red they exhibited, she had a notion they weren't.
"They're called Flos Sempiternus. It means everlasting flower. It got it's name because if you pick the flower at the right time, it'll stay alive forever. Or, well, as long as the person who picked it lives. If the person who picked is in on the verge of death or is in grave danger, it starts to wilt and dies when the person does." He picks one, twirls it between his fingers and places behind her ear.
"Thank you, Draco. It's wonderful, how'd you grow it?" She gives him a wide smile.
"Quite simple really," He closes the curtain before opening the door and motioning for her to go. She steps out and he closes the door behind him. "I actually took a great interest to Herbology over the summer. I wanted to grow something for you, to show you what I've been doing instead of visiting you like I usually do. I wanted to grow something different. As soon as I saw it, I thought of you, so here we are." They walk down the corridor towards her compartment. "It requires constant attention though. Like, practically the entire summer I was glued to that things' side. That's why I couldn't visit this time. But, extremely worth it." He looked down at her fondly and she smiled back. They reached her compartment and she opened the door. Stopping in the doorway, Aurora turned around.
"I'll see you at school, Draco. And thank you, it's beautiful." She smiled softly again, lightly touching the flower in her hair.
Hands in his pocket, he strolled back to his compartment. Grabbing his clothes, he made his way to the restrooms to change for school, smiling along the way.
Anyone who looked at Draco Malfoy now would think he's an absolute maniac, but they were all used to it knowing only one person could make the Draco Malfoy smile like that.
After all, who wouldn't smile like that when someone like Aurora loved and treated them as their sibling.

A/N

1. fav chapter of mine so far
2. longest chapter of mine so far (yay!)
i am actually kind of proud of this chapter because I literally made this up on the spot help-
also IM SORRY IT TOOK ALMOST A WHOLE MONTH TO UPDATE
my writing space is like out of ideas ughh
but i still managed to make this decent-ish chapter so good job me
I wanted to establish the relationship between Draco and Aurora quickly, seeing as they're cousins kjsbhd
i know the way i wrote it made it sound like they were in a relationship but thats weird like hello? incest much? point is, their relationship is very sweet and pure. Draco is the older brother who loves Aura very very much and can get a tad overprotective. So, please, do not confuse the fact they aren't dating.
anygays, hope u like this chapter
as always, if there are any mistakes, grammatical or vice versa, pls let me know
