Chapter 2: First Day of School
Oh sweet day! Note sarcasm, here I am entering a new school, as a transferee…again. I was greeted by a huge blue gate, and a huge green grassed field full of students wandering and chattering around. As I made my first step inside I felt all eyes were on me but I just ignored all of the stares they’re shooting me so I kept walking, looking at the steps my feet are making hiding my face with my long brown hair.
Now is my first day at Georgetown High. So basically I was first expected at the principal’s office to get my schedule, books and map, and of course make the good impressions, but I’m not here for that I just want to finish this year and go to college and forget everything about high school. Don’t get me wrong, it’s always hard to have an over-strict dad that never trusts you, and since freshman year that I’d been around with some friends and guys interested with me, he decided to be an ass killing my fun and bringing me from different schools each year, and yeah it’s my fourth school so far, so I have a master plan. I am not going to make friends, I will not allow any guys to be around me, I won’t make any teachers happy that my dad chose this school and I will never make my dad be proud of me.
Destroying my future? No, I’m not stupid to do that, especially to myself. I just didn’t want to be involved with anything, and I can always start at college, besides after being at age of 18 it will give me freedom from my over-reacting, over protective dad! All I have to do is to mask any emotions and turn into a numb who doesn’t care about the world.
It’s his big mistake to take me with him. I hate living with my Dad, he could just bring me to my other Auntie miles away from him. But being at age of seventeen, I guess I have no choice, I need to wait until I’m legal.
“Good morning Miss York, I’m Mrs. Jane Morris, the principal and welcome to Georgetown High. Please make sure to get all your teachers sign here and to return it in my office after class.” Mrs. Morris said cheerfully while handling me my books and the sheet of what I so called ‘attendance shit’.

“Hi” I simply started as I peek at the door of my first class which is English getting the attention of every eyes inside and Mr. Dawson. Great I’m ten minutes late!
“Hi to you too, come in, take the vacant seat and make yourself comfortable, but not too much or you might fell asleep during my class and I’m going to hate that” Mr. Dawson stated cheerfully whilst I made my way towards the room,.ignoring him and looking for any vacant seat, making sure to be distanced from anyone. Good there is one at the back.
“So, newbie will you please introduce yourself with the rest of the class?” says Mr. Dawson expectantly. Here we go, the introduction blah…blah…
I stand up from my seat glaring at my shoes, “Hi, I’m Priscilla York, you can simply call me Pris,” I said nervously then sliding back on my seat without even trying to look at my new classmates. As if I care about them!
“Too brief for an introduction, Pris. Anyway, today…” Mr. Dawson started his lecture as I begin to write notes on my pad and read on my book. “Hey, I’m Star. Actually it’s Christar but I like the nickname Star”. Okay, so this is the first one who got the nerve to talk to me. I just look into her direction, and rolled my eyes. Shock was evident on her face and I really need to hold my breath to stop myself from laughing, she looks friendly but I don’t do friends anymore, well her face was priceless sure she was caught off guard trying to be friendly and be ignored? Yeah, I’m that sweet.
“I just thought that making conversation to you will be cool for you look sweet and nice, then yeah I’m so so wrong” she whisper yelled whilst I just turned my back on her flipping my long brown hair sideward to cover my face.
The day past in blur, getting into different classrooms, making all the teachers sign my sheet, sitting at the farthest corner of the canteen for lunch, bumping into some students with their curious and interested looks but of course, ignoring them and throwing them glares in return was what I’m doing and wow I’m done with this lazy first day of school. I am now heading home driving my motorcycle. Yeah what’s wrong with the girl driving a motorcycle? I found it cool. As I parked at the front yard of our home, I saw dad on a bench at the front patio looking at me, as usual with the suspicious eyes.
“Hello there sweetie, how’s your first day at school?” Dad asked me.
“Fine”, I simply answered walking inside and heading upstairs to my room. Knowing if I stayed any longer he’s going to start his twenty questions.
I sighed as I flopped my stomach on my bed whispering to myself “I’ll get used to it, no friends, no talk, no fun, just being numb, far and away”.
