Chapter 9: Dream Filled Day

I’m at the middle of nowhere, everything was dark. I kept on walking towards the small light I’ve seen a couple of minutes ago but each step I make do nothing. It’s like walking on forever not reaching your destination. The dirt road I’m walking was slippery and stony, huge trees surrounding me and I was enthralled with deafening silence. As I make my way towards the small light that lit towards me I fell. Face first I am now wincing at the pain on my right elbow and both knees. Just then I noticed I’m about ten steps away to the light I’m following. A man in white shirt and white pants appeared on the right side of the exit stretching his hands on me, as he hovered above me I recognized I knew him. “Nigel” I whispered. Then another man came from the left side this time wearing in full black shirt and pants also walking towards me stretching his hands for me to take “Drake” I called. I was so confused they were both stretching their hands for me to take, who would I choose? Before I can make any move another man came to view his eyes shining in red, fury and danger was evidently written on his face when I took on his appearance recognition and fear washed over me…

 “Dad?”

“Yes Pris it’s me you should be getting ready for school right now before I forced you out of your bed!” my Dad’s deep loud voice brought my senses to present, it was just a dream. A very weird dream that brought more confusion to my already confused thoughts if that was possible. Opening my eyes and blinking few times to adjust my eyes to the light coming from my window I saw Dad hovering above me just a few steps from my bed a familiar terrifying look on his face “I’ll be gone for two days I was deployed out of town for a client meeting. I expect you to be matured enough and responsible taking care of everything here. There’s enough money I left by the kitchen counter use it wisely no parties, no sleepovers, no alcohol and strictly no boys at my house you get me Pris?” my Dad stated sternly, piercing his eyes with mine intently. “You know you don’t like me mad” he said as an afterthought.

“I never liked you, old man” I whispered just in time he turned his back on me. He turned to face me again shooting me a glare a warning on his eyes obviously heard what I thought I whispered, I smiled at him sweetly pretending to look innocent and he turned away marched out the door and shut it roughly. “Oh, that was fun!” I shrieked, I really love to see that annoyed look on my Dad’s threatening face. I felt victorious when I know he’s pissed.

I can’t stop the smile on my face as I grabbed my towel and walked inside my shower just thinking of the fact that I have two days without my Dad around. Well, he’s a real estate investor maybe that client could bring him a big fortune but I don’t care. What I care the most is that he was out of sight for two days, I can skip school, I can do whatever I want, I also had enough money to spend in anything to make fun and that’s when my smile dropped. Fun. I never had fun. Not in this town, I don’t even have a friend here, yes I know a few from my school but just because they happened to be my classmates. I can’t invite them over, and what fun do I think I can managed? Sighing I stepped inside the shower running it cold to wake my still sleepy muscles, today was not the day to skip school but I can really have fun without anyone.

I parked my motorbike on the school parking area a couple of minutes before the bell rang. I dashed to my first class in time avoiding being late, I walked towards my seat and found a crumpled piece of paper laying on it, taking a seat I opened it gently and read ‘meet me after class – Drake’ confused I looked around the room and outside the window guessing maybe he was just around, he’s a school sponsor after all so he can always be inside the campus but I found nothing I slid the paper on my bag and decided to ignore it. He can’t just order me to meet him any time he wanted.

At lunch time I sat on a single booth at the far end corner of the canteen as I usually did where I know no one will dare to talk to me knowing I would just ignore them, as it happens many times the first two weeks I came here. Nibbling slowly on my chicken sandwich I put my free hand inside my bag and pick up the piece of paper I found earlier at first period. ‘meet me after class – Drake’ I read it for the hundredth time today and still battling with my head what to do. Sure I wanted to see him, we never talked like forever after the incident at the forest and the unexpected meeting with Nigel which was just two days ago. Okay, we talked but it was like things got more confusing. I wanted to know about him being Michael and Nigel being Nathaniel, I wanted to know about the creepy guys at the forest but what’s stopping me is the thought that maybe it’s really not safe to be near him, Nigel warned me and I have this strong feeling that I should listen to him. It’s not like I’m really into listening and following but he sounds serious and that makes my curiosity grew ten times bigger. ‘Curiosity killed the cat’ I reminded myself. The bell ring signaling for the end of lunch cut me from my train of thoughts, grimacing at my unfinished food I picked up my tray and put everything at the trash as I make my way out of the canteen heading to my locker. I still have hours to think this over.
