Ryleigh's POV:

1:20pm

It's our lunch hour and I'm sitting at our usual spot under the tree. Mariah is telling us a story I'm yet to hear the words of because I'm zoned the f*ck out.

Joshua is laughing at the top of his lungs while Toni is in tears.

Muuch is eating her lunch while laughing. She knocks her chest dramatically when Mariah hits the dance mimicking what she saw at the bus park this morning.

"A so the man grab up the likkle gyal and dash her in a the bus and do him victory dance enuh!"

I force a smile when she looks at me.

"Them conductor yah think passenger a property... Me say the girl uniform blouse soil up just cause him no want her take the other bus," she holds her stomach, tilting over from crippling laughter.

Joshua is now beating Toni's shoulder while T's slamming the old desk in front of her.

*Soon from now the Dean ago come run unuh and call your friends bad company ms.prefect*

"Unuh quiet down nuh. Lower school no have lunch and a fi dem block this we deh pon," I whisper dramatically.

I might have made it worse seeing as now everybody is trying to stifle their laughter– causing even more noise.

I finally laugh genuinely when I see Mariah hold her legs together and run towards the bathroom.

"Look weh you cause Ryleigh," Joshua cries. "Fada."

I glimpse Dalani walking aside Jordanne and my first instinct is to bury my head in my phone... but not quickly enough to not see when Jordanne shakes his head.

"D' a come," Toni decides to whisper to me.

I don't lift my head because mi just know Jordanne wants to see my reaction.

"Ryleigh," Dalani starts, "Pure Maths session after lunch?" he suggestively asks.

"Kool" I say still looking at my phone just jamming away at the weather app.

"Ah. Text you when me free up? Gonna check on my form class, man dem find phone down deh."

"Ait," is my only response before looking up. Only to see Mariah, Joshua and Toni all looking at me with small smiles.

Dalani moves off and as soon as he does, Joshua speaks. "The man no need no help in a maths enuh Ry'" he laughs.

"How you know that?" Mariah and Toni question simultaneously.

"We can never be perfect... practice a practice sir," I retort and with that the bell goes off.

We all stand, knowing it's time to head to the auditorium. There is a section to the back of the auditorium, upstairs that spans over the second cafeteria. Deh so we ago.

We climb the stairs and get to a point where we can see the stage, the wings to the side, the auditorium floor and exit doors toward outside and to the 'dungeon'. The 'dungeon' is just the lower level of the auditorium where small classes are held for 6th formers rarely.

I plop down on the first chair I see and put my feet up on another one to save it for Dalani.

Mariah, Muuch, Josh and Toni move further towards the back so they can laugh in peace without any echoes or disturbing our study session.

I pull my phone out and shoot a text to Dalani

Me: I'm upstairs auditorium when u ready

Dalani Mase : Actually was about to text you. Danne a stay with my class for me this session. Free now. Coming.
