'It has to come sometime soon. Fathers getting way too impatient' you thought to yourself as you looked out the window into the soft pink sunrise. The only thing on your mind is getting a letter from UA saying you've been accepted. You knew you would pass, but at the same time there is always that thought in the back of your mind.

*knock knock*. You twisted your neck fast enough to win a marathon and jolted out of your chair straight to the door. You opened up the door breathing heavily. The snatch of the letter scared the mail man but you ran away screaming "THANK YOUUUUU" before he could react. You ran straight back to your room and tore open the letter.

-time skip 5 mins-

"I did it..." you breathed out to yourself. "I GOT IN I DID IT." as soon as you said that your father came bursting into your room. "You got in?" He said sternly as you nodded over and over again. He sighed and looked up at you "Good. Now don't ruin this opportunity laid out for you. You have to become a hero, for me, for your mother." You took a moment to think 'I may love mother and you, but this, this is for me. One thing in my life that I take control of.' You nodded again "Of course, father." You looked up to him with a slight smile. "You know I won't let you down" He then walked out and shut the door straight in your face. You knew he was proud, but not of you, of himself because he trained you to become what you are.

Even though it felt like just a day ago you were crying on the floor because of the accident, but now look at you, you were in your room with an acceptance letter from UA. The soft wind outside could be heard from your room as you let out a small giggle, but you shook it off. 'I guess now's time I start training'

You sighed and walked out of your room to the bathroom to change into your workout clothes. Entering the training room was always the same, every day. That same feeling of tiredness but also determination filled you. 'This is what it takes to be a hero' hours on end of training, and sweat filled shirts. The water bottle thudded on the floor as you threw your towel with it and started stretching. Thirty minutes of stretching, water, two hours of training, water, thirty minutes of stretching, water, and finally two more hours of training.

You huffed and grunted as you jumped and kicked the metal mannequin leaving a small burn hole in the side. The steam coming of your foot as it landed left a smell that you were so very fond of. You took a sip of water as you walked outside of the training room to the back yard. You had been practicing your own special move that blasts you into the air with fire bursts in your hands, while spinning and kicking with the fire on the soles of your feet. The wind made a whoosh sound as you kicked the air, landing gracefully on the ground. "Ehem" you whipped your head around to see your father standing there with a slightly impressed look on his face. "Was that good enough father?" You questioned as he cleared his throat and nodded. "But you must be practicing it on a person now, It looks like it would help in a battle to traject yourself off the ground and land a hit but we can only see if it works in a real fight. Now come at me" he grumbled in his monotone voice. You nodded and started circling him.

Fathers quirk heat resistance and manipulation, so your fire could not harm or burn him, only your brute force. This helps him train you while also not restricting the usage of your quirk. As soon as he closed his eyes you ran in a circle, creating a fire border all around him. You tried landing a hit on him but he blocked it and sighed. "Try harder!" He yelled but you just squinted your eyes and sent a wave of fire towards him. While he was distracted you flew up with your fire and landed your leg on his shoulder. You wrapped your leg around his neck and made him fall to the ground, being captured by you. He tried punching you with his heat but you grabbed his wrists just in time.

"1,2,3" you breathed out. "I win" you said in a cocky voice. Your father looked up towards you as you got off and wiped the sweat off your forehead. "You've never used that before" he deadpanned. "good job, but it won't be that easy in the real world. There are many villains and opponents out there who are in better shape than me that you will have to face" you sigh at his words, he can never just leave it at 'good job' there always has to be a 'but'. "I know, this is why I'm telling you that I need an actual training partner, maybe there's someone at UA with a quirk like mine or a quirk that can contradict mine." You sigh and sit down on the bench, taking a long sip of your water. "We'll see" he said, turning away and walking towards the house.

'Yeah, we'll see, hopefully...' sweat dripped down your forehead as thoughts of what's to come rush over your mind.

The silence in the house screams in your ears. You try to push away the pessimistic thoughts about UA but you can't help but think of the worst. 'These kids are really strong.' 'I have to be at my strongest and I have to be first.' 'What if I'm last...' was all you could think about.

Father always had some new thing to say that you had to get better at. There was always another but, another what if, or another thing you had to fix. It's almost as if your best was never enough. You always just ignored that though and listened to him, made it better. Made it perfect. He has always had huge expectations for you so that's why you tell yourself if you're not first, you're last. But that, at UA, Isn't possible.

There will always be a better.

You tried keep your eyes open but the exhaustion of training put you fast asleep. Very soon you'll be walking down the halls of the most prestigious hero school in Japan. And you never knew what was to come.
