Chapter Text:

Tommy was not having a good day.

He was currently walking home from a restaurant his family was at, and he didn't want to stay any longer. He didn't feel like dealing with the social interaction.

So here he was, running through the dark streets to get to his hotel room while it was pouring rain. His clothes were getting soaked. He was tired and out of breath as his lungs and heart worked hard to try and keep him warm and breathing from the physical activity.

The sneakers that sat on his feet were getting irritated from the rain, with his socks rubbing against sore skin. After minutes of running through puddles, he finally makes it back to their hotel in sopping cloth.

One person sits at the counter, idly looking at their computer and peering over at Tommy to make sure he wasn't about to rob the place or some crazy shit. She looked kind of confused when a soaking wet 17 year old came barreling through the doors with no coat on, but he had a pass to the hotel showing that he was allowed to be here so he was deemed okay.

He doesn't take any time to get into the elevator, and slump against the back after hitting the 19th floor button. He was out of breath and extremely tired, his emotions seemingly fragile from events of uncomfortable family dinners and choking down anxiety from being around so many people in a public space.

Tommy lets his eyes close as he gets a moment of rest, and almost drifts off from the exhaustion of running and emotions.

At about the 6th floor, the elevator stops and a boy gets on who looks about his age. The boy silently presses the 17th floor button, and moves to the other corner of the elevator with no words as he looks down at his phone.

Most people would think nothing of it. And neither of the boys in the elevator do.

They do get suspicious when the speed of the elevator starts to slow down nowhere near their destinations and the door never opens. Even after about 3 minutes of nothing happening or moving.

Tommy was the first to speak up.

"Uh- why is the door not opening?"

The stranger looks just as confused, his eye brows creasing in confusion. "I'm not sure, could it be like- broken down?"

This starts to set Tommy into a panic, his eyes shooting open at a realization of 'Oh shit, I could literally die.'

With his lungs already tired after running 4 blocks in the rain, his sped up breathing and heart rate were not good things in the slightest.

Stranger Boy's eyes also open wide, but this time in worry for the other in the elevator with him. He starts to walk a bit slowly over, holding his hands out slightly trying to see if it was okay to come closer.

"Hey, hey- it's okay, calm down, we'll uh- we'll be fine! We just have to call for someone to fix it and get us out! We'll be oka-" His kind words get cut off by Tommy starting to panic more, with small tears filling his eyes and red flush coming up below his neck.

He backs into the corner, curling his arms around his torso and slides to the ground, eyes still wide-set and fear filled. His breathing quickened, and the stranger sat down next to him and tried to ask for permission to touch him.

The words barely fill Tommy's head, and he feels so distressed he doesn't care that it's a stranger offering him comfort. He needs something comforting at the moment or he thinks he might pass out. He nods subtly and has no time to think about his choices.
