"What's on the agenda today?" I ask, my attention on my assistant, Vardan Mittal.
"You have two meetings lined up for today. The first one is scheduled for ten AM, and the second one for three PM," he responds, referencing his notes.
"Okay." I acknowledge and give him some tasks before delving into my work for the day.
I check through the presentation, revising any points that may have been missed, and a knock echoes on the door.
"Come in," I say. I look up to see Vardan.
"Sir, we have a meeting in twenty minutes," he informs me. Checking my watch, I realize it's already nine-forty. I gather the necessary materials for the meeting and, accompanied by Vardan, make my way to the conference room.
I take my seat and see that most of my employees are already seated, including my brother Shaurya Goenka, the co-CEO of Ajmera Hotels, and our friend Ruhan Singhania, the CFO.
In the meeting, we discuss our plans for improving work ethics and hospitality within our hotels. I present the PowerPoint, featuring new ideas collected from customer feedback. I gather feedback and advice, keeping all the important details in mind and by the end of the meeting, conclude some new innovative solutions.
Shaurya and I dismiss everyone. "Thank you for attending this meeting. It's because of your hard work and dedication that our hotels are growing."
During lunch break, Shaurya and Ruhan came to my cabin to have lunch.
"There is a small café approximately a twenty-minute drive from here, they have some delicious food there. Do you want to go there?" Shaurya suggests, scraping ketchup from my plate with a fry. I slap his hand, preventing him from taking more, but he royally ignores me, taking another fry.
Ruhan snickers and says, "Not right now, perhaps later, and Shaurya if you're that hungry." He takes out a container from his lunch box and opens it. "Have this. My sister made it and gave me some extra for you guys." He presents a slab of heaven.
I quickly grab a slice, place it on my plate, gobble a piece of chocolate truffle cake that's calling me to be eaten, ignore my brother's laughter, and thank Singhania.
A commotion disturbs us. Opening my cabin door, I see many of my employees gathered. I go there, and Shaurya and Ruhan follow suit. I see Akash, the head manager at Ajmera Hotels, on the floor. Standing beside him is Myra, Ruhan's PA, and his sister. She looks frightened.
"I said no, I am not interested. Why are you forcing me? Don't you understand that?" She shouts, on the verge of breaking down.
He gets up from the floor and dusts his clothes. "Just give me a chance, please. I really like you." He tries to come closer to her, but before he can do that, a punch lands on his face.
Ruhan holds his collars and says, "She said that she wasn't interested. Are you deaf? That you can't understand."
"If you come near her, then no one will be worse than me." He leaves his collars and takes Myra in a hug. He tells her something, I am unable to hear. Her features calm and she giggles. He smiles, hearing his sister calm down and pecks her head. I share a look with Shaurya, remembering our bond with Saanvi.
"So this is the reason for rejecting me, you are in a relationship with your boss." He says bitterly.
"Sir, she's after your money. Don't trust her based on her innocent face. I know girls like her, trying to seduce others and then being in relationships for money." I fist my hands, burying my anger at his accusations. He's a wussy for not being able to handle a rejection.
