Ricky runs across the street to the basketball courts where kids are playing, and leans on the gate, watching his friend Mike dominate the game. "Game point. Check," Mike says, smirking as he passes the ball to the opposing team for a check. He then expertly dribbles past his defender, executing a smooth layup to win the game.

"Let me get that dollar up off you," Mike says, grinning as his opponent groans in defeat and reluctantly digs into his pocket, handing over a crumpled dollar bill. Mike takes the dollar with a smirk and runs to his friend. "What up man" Ricky says from behind the gate of the basketball court."What up Rick" Mike says grabbing his sweater off of the gate. "Your moms let you out?" He asks.

"She still thinks I'm in my room" Ricky says smirking before shaking his head. "You still coming with me to see Bob?" He asks as Mike nods.

"Let's go" mike says as he walks on the other side of the gate."This is his first show and it's at the cathedral. We can't miss it man. We gotta move fast." Ricky explains. "Come on man. You know me yo. We gotta get des first" Mike said doing a small handshake with Ricky. "Is she home?" Ricky asks as they start walking. "Nah she's the studio with her mom" mike answers making ricky look at him confused . "How do You know that?" Ricky asks. "I just do now come on" mike says running causing Ricky to run after.

...

"Try it again" Vivian instructs causing destiny to follow her direction. She then does a grand jeté that carries her across the stage. She lands gracefully, extending her arms in a beautiful arabesque, holding the pose as the music. "Turn your leg in ward a bit " her mother vivian critiques as she watches her daughter practice. Destiny is in the middle of her dance routine when she sees her friends enter the studio. "Hey, Des! Hey, Ms. Viv," Mike says, bouncing his basketball.

"Hey, boys. You staying out of trouble?" Vivian asks, eyeing them with a hint of skepticism. Both boys exchange a glance before turning back to her. "Of course," Ricky lies with a wide smile. Vivian chuckles at their attempt to appear innocent. "Mhm, well, what brings you here?" she asks as she puts her hands on her hips. "Bobby is in a talent show, and we want to be there to support him. So, we were hoping Destiny could come with us," Mike explains. Destiny looks at her mom with a hopeful expression. "Can I go, Ma?" she asks eagerly.

Vivian sighs, then relents. "Go ahead, but don't get into any trouble, Destiny Marie," she says sternly making destiny's eyes light up. Destiny jumps up and down with excitement. "Thanks, Momma!" she exclaims, grabbing her friends and rushing out of the studio.

...
When arriving to the talent show they see lots of people enjoying who's on stage. Since it's crowded mike grabs destiny hand and leads her to a spot where there are less people. ""Man, they kill it every time," Mike says, his eyes glued to The Untouchables, a talented dance group that has everyone on their feet.

"Look at how together they are," Ricky chimes in, his voice filled with admiration. "The outfits, the hair, the steps... it's like they're one person." Destiny smiles, captivated by the synchronized movements and infectious energy of the dancers. When The Untouchables finish their routine, the audience erupts into cheers, a wave of applause sweeping through the venue.

"Alright, alright! Give it up for The Untouchables! They did that like they meant it!" The announcer's voice booms over the loudspeakers, and the crowd responds with deafening applause. "Now let's keep this show rolling. Settle down, y'all! This next young man is making his stage debut. He's only 11 years old, and best of all, he's from right here in Roxbury! Show some love for Lil' Bobby Brown!"

As Bobby steps onto the stage, Destiny can't help but yell, "Let's go, Bobby!" from the back of the cathedral, her excitement infectious. Mike joins in, cheering, "You got this, man!"

But as Bobby signals the DJ to start his song, he hesitates, staring out into the sea of screaming girls. Destiny's smile fades as she notices his nervousness. "Something's wrong," she murmurs, concern creasing her brow.

Despite the crowd's enthusiastic clapping, Bobby's nerves get the best of him. Suddenly, he bolts off the stage, rushing into the arms of his mother, prompting a chorus of boos from the audience. "That's your boy up there? That little kid sucked." A boy turned around and said to mike, destiny and ricky.

"I know he did better than your monkey lookin' ass could do" Mike says with an attitude. "The hell you just say" the boy questions as he starts to get closer to mike. "I ain't stutter" mike comes back. "Come again?" The boy says standing up straight and towers over mike.
Within a split second Mike pushes him and then grabs destiny before they bolt. "Take y'all asses back to O.P. with that." The boy yells after catching himself.
...
The next day, destiny was with zena talking.  "So, how was practice yesterday?" Zena asks Destiny as they sit at the park with friends while others play jump rope nearby. "It was good, I guess. My mom has been on my case about everything," Destiny replies, glancing away. "She doesn't get that I don't want to dance. I actually want to sing." She says not noticing her friends are across the street from her.

"You'll get it; you always do," Zena says, offering her encouragement. "Have I ever told you I love you?" Destiny asks, causing Zena to laugh. "Yes, many times, actually," Zena answers, grinning making them both giggling.

Meanwhile, the boys are visiting Ralph, who happens to be practicing karate across the street from the park. "What's up?" Ricky greets Ralph. Ralph turns to him, bows, and continues his karate moves. As he practices, Ricky notices Ralph's gaze drifting toward the two girls.

"Hey, Des is over there," Ricky says, catching the attention of the other boys. "Who's Des?" Ralph asks, stopping his karate moves. "She's our friend," Mike replies, looking across the street at them. "Yo, man, why don't you just go over there and talk to her?" Ricky suggests.

"Nah, man. It's not the right time," Ralph says, jumping to emphasize his point. The boys think he's staring at Zena, but he's really focused on Destiny."So Destiny is her name..." Ralph mumbles to himself. Bobby, standing nearby, hears him clearly.

"Stay here for a second. I'll go talk to her for you," Ricky says to Ralph, placing his hands on Ralph's shoulders before heading toward the girls. The boys watch from a distance as Ricky approaches Destiny and Zena. "Hello, how are you doing? Hey, Des!" Ricky greets them both.

"Hey, Ricky! What are you doing here?" Destiny asks, surprised to see him. "Just trying to help my friend Ralph," he replies, making both girls look at him in confusion.

"Help with what?" Zena asks, raising an eyebrow. "You see my friend over there?" Ricky says, pointing at Ralph. Destiny and Zena turn to see Ralph chatting with Bobby and Mike. Destiny waves her hand at them, earning a smile from Ralph as he waves back. The other boys exchange teasing grins.

"He's shy to talk to you. I'm not. Can I sing something for you?" Ricky says, making the girls glance at each other, intrigued."Okay, slick , I didn't know you could sing," Destiny replies, her expression brightening, which makes Zena laugh. Once he begins singing, Destiny's smile widens. Meanwhile, with the boys, Bobby turns to Ralph. "He just played you," Bobby says, shaking his head. "I know you're not just going to take that." He instigates.

Suddenly, Ralph bolts over to Destiny and starts singing along, taking over the song Ricky is already performing. The two boys begin to compete for her attention, each trying to outshine the other. "Do you think Ricky knows Ralph likes Destiny?" Bobby asks Mike, watching the scene unfold. "Ralph likes Destiny?" Mike replies, surprised.

"You didn't hear him when he said, 'So her name was Destiny'? He literally said it before he left," Bobby explains, rolling his eyes. Mike smacks his teeth at the thought. "You sound jealous," Bobby points out, smirking. "Man, what? I'm not jealous! I don't even like Des," Mike says, rolling his eyes again.

"Uh-huh, sure," Bobby replies, shaking his head in disappointment. He knows Mike is lying.
