Neteyam and Z'awe sat together on a rock farther away than what was allowed, but they held no care. Z'awe's hand rested on Neteyam's stomach, helping him with his breathing
"The way of water has no beginning and no end"
Z'awe explained the training exercise to Neteyam who looked determined to prove himself capable. Z'awe tossed the shell and gave Neteyam an encouraging look.
"The sea is around you—and in you"
He took a deep breath and submerged himself under the ocean's surface. He began swimming downwards, using his arm and legs to give him extra boosts.
"The sea is your home, before your birth and after your death"
Neteyam was desperate to prove to his father and siblings that he was able to do this. Z'awe gave him confidence and encouragement that no one else had ever given him. She made him want to be better
"The sea gives and the sea takes"
His hand wrapped around the shell and Neteyam immediately began pushing himself up after a bit his head burst through the water a infectious smile on his face.
"Water connects all things—life to death—darkness to light"
"Z'awe! Look!" Neteyam shouted excitedly looking for her, holding the shell in the air
"You did it!" Z'awe grasped his hand which held the shell with a smile. She placed one on his cheek and brought him into a hug which was immediately recuperated.

Z'awe and Neteyam grew even closer through the time they spent together at lessons, meals, even there free time was spent together.
The Sully's noticed but chose not to comment on the matter, they had never seen Neteyam so care free, they had not seen a frown on his face since before him and Z'awe's friendship had formed.
"So Neteyam.." the boy looked up from the bracelet he was weaving for Z'awe. She had noticed his and complimented them and Neteyam wanted to gift her one.
"Mom?" He questioned, he was confused. He hadn't done anything. Had Lo'ak done something?
"You and the chiefs daughter seem to be getting along" Neytiri stated. Neteyam furrowed his brows
"Yeah, we're friends. What about it?" He questioned genuinely curious
"Just friends?" Neytiri accused
"Mom!" Neteyam became flustered, he stared at his mother bewildered
"It's just a question... Me and your father were just friends, and well, obviously we weren't" Neytiri smiling at her firstborn who scrambled for words
