December 22, 2005, It was a cold, dark December night, the full moon was out, not a cloud in the starry sky. Kenzie was sound asleep in her bed. She was 26, and staying with her parents. Her family were hunters, and not the animal kind of hunters. Let's just say, we hunt things that would make a normal person have nightmares. Monsters, is what we hunters call them. Yes, Demons, Werewolves, Leviathans, Banchees, Ghosts, Cambions, Vampires, Shapeshifters, Windigo, Skinwalkers, you name it, we've killed them. As also, Angels are real. Much more real than you think. Of course, we don't get paid to save humans. No, saving people IS our pay. I'm going to take you back to the night, Kenzie's parents were killed by werwolves. The night everything changed for her. The night- she met the Winchester boys.
Present Day,
Kenzie slept soundly in her bed, it had been a long day for her. But soon, her sleep would be disturbed by the sounds of loud crashing followed by loud bangs coming from downstairs, and then the screams of her parents. She grabbed her loaded gun, and ran downstairs after jumping out of bed. But when she got downstairs, her heart sank. Her eyes widened at the sight of what was left of her parents bodies. Tears began to soak her face, the gun falling from her hands. She let out a piecing scream, turning, and running back up the stairs. She grabbed her emergency bag that her parents had given her in case of an emergency along with a family friend's phone number and address. Bobby Singer. She grabbed what she could, shoved everything into her father's car, before she set the house on fire, and then took off. She drove for what seemed like hours. Her world had been so rudely yanked from her. It was like time had stopped, only for her to grieve for a second before it started back again. She pulled up into Bobby's driveway. She cut the lights.
She climbed out, shutting the door, making her way to the door. She and Bobby had come up with code knocks for when something was wrong. She knocked on the door in code that Bobby taught her. Tears streamed her cheeks, she was covered in her parents blood.
Bobby knew something was wrong when he heard his niece's knock. So, when he opened the door to find her there, bloody and crying, he knew what had happened. "Come on inside, kid." He ushered her inside. "Are you hurt?"
"It's their blood, n-not mine." She stuttered, setting her bag on the floor. Bobby closed the door, and came up to her. "What happened, Kenz?"
"T-they're dead, Bobby. Mom and dad- they were-" She swallowed back her tears. "Werewolves. The claw marks on their bodies were consistent with a werewolf attack. So, I did what my mother told me to do if something happened to them at home. I burned the house down with their bodies inside. They're gone, Bobby."
Bobby, listening to his niece breaking down, was not something he was used to seeing. In fact, he has never, not once, seen her cry until now. But after all, she did just lose both of her parents. "Go get cleaned up, I need to make a call." He motioned to her. She grabbed her bag, and headed to the bathroom to shower and freshen up.
Bobby called Dean.
Dean was driving, Sam sitting beside him. They had just wrapped up a case when Bobby called. Dean picked up the phone. "Bobby? Yeah? What's up?"
As Dean listened to a distraught Bobby, he glanced over at Sam. Sam raised a brow. "We're on our way." Dean said. After he hung up, Dean looked at Sam.
"That was Bobby. His niece just witnessed both of her parents get slaughtered by werewolves. So, he wants us there to help track down the werewolf responsible for her parents' death."
"That's horrible. I mean, both of them? In one night? Something tells me that wasn't just a random attack. You think the werewolf knew her or her parents?" Sam asked, glancing over at Dean.
"You're right, it doesn't sound like a random attack, it sounds like they were targeted." Dean gripped the wheel as he drove to Bobby's.
The next morning,
Kenzie was still asleep, passed out on the couch from a long night, restless night. Dean and Sam stood in the kitchen with Bobby. Bobby was telling them what had happened, showed them the bloody clothes, and footage from before the attack. Because Kenzie's family had cameras everywhere around their property."Bobby, we think they were targeted. This doesn't sound like a random attack." Dean said, his eyes on a sleeping Kenzie.
"I agree with you, Dean. Sounds like they were targeted." Bobby replied.
"How long has she been asleep?" Sam asked, looking over at Bobby.
"Not long. Two hours, maybe? She had a rough night. You should have seen her. It was bad." Bobby sighed, taking a deep breath. "That's why I asked you to come. I need help with the case, and I don't want her working this. She's been through enough already. Oh, and Dean? Don't flirt with her." Bobby added, heading to the living room.
Dean rolled his eyes, a smile crept along his face. "What's makes you think I'd flirt with her?" He chuckled, leaning against the door frame.
"If she wakes up, tell her me and Sam with to follow up on a lead." Bobby said, eyeing Dean suspiciously. Dean nodded, "Got it."
Kenzie woke up not long after Bobby and Sam had left to go check out the lead they had. Kenzie walked into the kitchen, still half asleep, she grabbed a cup out of the cabinet, and made her some coffee.
She heard a slight cough from behind her, and went to grab her gun. "Who the hell are you? Where's Bobby?" She had him cocked at Dean.
Dean threw his hands up in defense. "Woah there, easy tiger. Bobby went with my brother, Sam to follow up on a lead. I'm Dean. Dean Winchester." Dean introduced himself.
Raising a brow, she lowered her gun. "Sorry, it's been a long night." She turned her back again, placing her gun on the counter next to her. After she fixed her some coffee, she sat back on the couch, telling Dean everything that had happened last night. Dean listened to her. He could hear the fear and pain in her voice.
"Listen, I don't know what you saw, or what you went through, but you aren't alone. We will find the werewolf responsible for your parents' deaths. I promise you, you will be okay." Dean said softly, trying not to scare the poor girl anymore than she already had been.
