Megara is the third in line of 4 princesses and our protagonist. She fell in love with someone she grew up with, but after her mother's and eldest sister's passing, she found him not strong enough and had to turn him down if she wanted to be able to protect herself
Growing up she always had an interest in magic. She studied it in secret with the court mage, and at 16 could cast simple illusion spells. Years later she would be a powerful illusion mage herself.
She has also always been fascinated with things outside of the castle. Dragons, other kingdoms, savages, etc. were among the things she tried to understand.
She never quite liked the nobles. They seemed fake to her, at least the ones in court. They seemed to always want something of her and she couldn't quite stand it. Especially since it was mainly marriage to bring them closer to the crown.
