The dragon king is a title given to the strongest of them. The title goes to either male or female. The dragon king is respected for his strength. However if they cannot lead another dragon can challenge the current king to try and take over the throne.
Their magic consists of fire. They well, breath it obviously. But if they can master shapeshifting magic, which allows them to transform into a human (however they still have their scales and horns, it is difficult and painful to transform so they don't bother learning how to try fully passing as human), they can move the flames how they want.
They also mate once for life. Even if their mate dies they do not mate again. Their ritual consists of exchanging scales, and later slashing their arms to mix their blood. The blood part allows them to share their magic with one another, and will often lead to their eye colors being the same or matching markings appearing. They can mate outside of their species. However it is highly discouraged since there is no guarantee the children would be healthy or, if the other species is a woman, they would survive giving birth.
