Irene's (Iris' Mom)POV

Four hours ago...

We were talking about the party when our doorbell rang. Did Ire's school end early, I thought to myself. Damien, Lucien's brother was at the door to my surprise. Damien is the second strongest Elemental thus he is also heavily respected in our community but unlike his brother who is more on the hostile side Damien is really friendly and kind to everyone. I immediately opened the door since letting someone with higher authority stand outside for long is extremely insulting in our community. I opened the door and smiled at him even though I was extremely nervous. The only time a high-ranked elemental comes to a normal elemental's house is only when it is absolutely necessary.

He smiled and nodded at me when I asked him to come in. "Is Paul not here?" Damien asked me. "No, I'll call him".
Hearing this, my heart started beating faster. I called Paul and he came downstairs and shock was evident on his face when he came downstairs.
Damien's POV
Once they both sat down, I started talking and I went straight to the point.

"I am going to talk about something that is extremely serious with you both. I am sure you both are aware of Iris' powers. " They both had horrified expressions on their face when I mentioned Iris. " If Lucien knows about Iris' ability, she'll either be exiled or worse killed. I am not going to mention anything about her since I have always been fond of her but be careful he has spies all around the community". " How do you know about her powers?", Paul asked me still being in a daze. I sighed and replied, " I have witnessed her abilities twice. The first time was when she was much younger and it happened in the community park next to the forest. At first, I thought she was an earth elemental and was probably training herself. But when I looked carefully I realized it was just a child and it was talking to a beast. I wiped the memories of everyone who was present there. I thought that since she was just a child she probably didn't knew how to control herself.

The second time happened yesterday at her school. My eldest daughter witnessed her powers and reported them to me, I have asked her to keep an eye on Iris just in case something happened. But this time, I can't stop the spread of news about her powers since there are hundreds of kids who witnessed it but I tried wiping the memories of potential spies of Lucien. I just came here to warn you and I'll suggest you to move out to protect the kid. Wiping memories take a huge toll on me and I can't use my powers like before".
Paul nodded at me and said, "I understand but May I ask you a question?" Please do, I replied. " Why do you care so much about her?" The one question I dreaded answering was asked. Again. "I guess time will tell" I told him and left their house quickly to avoid more questions.

Lucien's POV

To find that my own brother was the traitor was not something I expected. I always had doubts about him and him being a so-called kind-hearted person was a red flag and an indicator that he would put others before his own brother. Thus I bugged his favourite watch. I bought a voice recorder and put it inside his watch. He never leaves his house without his watch so when I thought of spying on him it was my first option and I am glad I did. A child with such rare yet powerful abilities doesn't seem like something unimportant so I decided to check her out.

Hence I am walking towards her house. I reached their doorbell and I heard some murmuring. A woman I am guessing the kid's mother opened the door harshly and while opening she was talking about something " I swear Ire if I find out that you forgot something again this time, I'll send you to your grandpa's child. How many times are you going to forget something, this is the third time you came back home after leaving for school fifteen minutes ago". When she saw who was actually at the door, her facial expression changed from anger to fear. "....Lucien", she stuttered. I guess she didn't expect me.

I didn't bother waiting for her to invite me in, I just entered the house and asked her "Where is your daughter?". I could tell she was extremely nervous but that only made the situation interesting. "She is at school sir, May I ask why you are looking for her?", she replied. "I'll answer your question if you answer mine. She visibly gulped at my sentence. "Are you hiding something from me and the committee?". She quickly shook her head. I could feel my anger rising and fire forming on my fingertips. "Oh really! then tell me about your daughter, what kind of elemental is she?". She looked around for a second and then replied "She is only twelve she hasn't unlocked her powers yet". By now, sweat particles were forming on her forehead, her hands were shaking and her heart was also beating faster, obvious signs of lying. I decided to give her one more chance. "Do you love her?. "Of course, she is my child", she replied with sincerity in her eyes. "Well, too bad you are gonna lose her soon". I set a photo frame of Iris on fire. I was about to leave when she grabbed my hand and started crying and screaming 'please don't hurt my child'. "ENOUGH" I yelled. "I will let the kid live till she is eighteen. The moment she turns eighteen she will be killed. The only reason I am letting her live is because of the fact that since she is a child, she can be manipulated and used against me. But I'll be back when she is eighteen. So you better make sure she doesn't cause any trouble." Before I left I said one more thing to her that will make sure that she lives in agony for the next six years. "And don't let her out of your sight, I don't know when I will change my mind".
