"THE GATE." Steve and Dustin spoke simultaneously, looking at each other. It was clear they knew something that Rey and the others didn't and it was making the boy increasingly more confused. They all turned, quickly heading back in the direction they came in.

"I don't understand. You've seen this before?" Robin asked the question Rey hadn't had the chance to just yet.

"Not exactly," Steve replied as they all moved down the stairs.

"Then what, exactly?"

"All you need to know is it's bad." Dustin cut in.

Steve nodded, "It's really bad."

"Like, end-of-the-human-race-as-we-know-it kind of bad."

Robin squinted her eyes at the younger boy, "And you know about this how?"

Rey cut in, throwing up his hands, "What the fuck is going on right now?"

"Um, Steve?" Erica caught the teen's attention, "Where's your Russian friend?" She spoke referencing the empty space the unconscious Russian guard had once occupied.

With amazing timing, lights started to flash and alarms began to blare, signaling that it was no longer a secret that the group of kids were there.

"Shit." Steve cursed before stupidly going to the door and poking his head out to look around, he was quickly spotted.

"Halt! Halt!" The guard yelled before Steve slammed the door in his face.

"Shit."

Rey anxiously pulled at the roots of his hair, his eyes wide, "What the fuck is wrong with you?"

Steve wasted no time to address the boy's words, only ushered the group forward, "Go, go, go, go, go!"

They all took off in a sprint down the hallway, rushing around corners and bursting through doors. In a panic, they found themselves back in the observation room.

"Shit." Dustin cursed.

"Move! Let's move!" Steve screamed and they took off running in another direction. "Go! Shit! Shit, shit, shit! Go, go, go!"

They ran out the room and into the hands-on observation area nearest the giant fucking dimensional portal. They rushed down the stairs, if not for the panic attack he was experiencing in that moment, Rey might've laughed as he watched Dustin let out a high-pitched scream while pushing a Russian scientist out of their way.

They reached the end of the platform and found themselves with nowhere else to go. Dustin expressed all their thoughts aloud, " Holy shit! Shit! Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit!"

"Guards! Go!" Steve yelled before leading the way, they all turned around and followed. Taking the man off guard Steve pushed a man out of the way, allowing them a moment before being cut off by a group of soldiers both in front of them and to their left. Steve quickly pushed over a stack of metal barrels, knocking one group to the floor and allowing them a moment to get further away.

They all ran as fast as they could into a room Rey couldn't quite identify at the moment, not that that was anywhere close to his biggest concern.

"Robin!" Steve yelled, struggling to hold the door closed.

"Shit!" Dustin cursed, looking around for an escape.

"Help me, come on!" Steve continued to yell at Robin before she moved to help hold the door.

Without much of a thought in his brain Rey also moved, squeezing below and between the two to help hold the door, but he could tell already they wouldn't last long, the three teens were no match against who knows how many soldiers who were banging against the door on the other side.

"Here!" Erica called to the group, having found and broken open a vent cover to escape, "Come on, let's go!"

"Come on!" Dustin yelled to the trio.
