Ian's phone rang the afternoon of Monday. He had been sitting in his room crying hoping Anthony would come to his rescue. He got up and answered.
"Hello?" Ian asked.
"Hello, is this Ian Hecox?"
"Yes, what can I help you with?"
"It's about Anthony Padilla. Are you his friend?"
Ian froze.
"Yes, I am."
"We received a call by a young man reporting an accident on Highway 23."
Ian's eyes starting watering.
"An accident? Is he ok?"
"He is here at the hospital. He is in the state of a coma."
Ian dropped his phone and fell to the ground. His heart sank.
"Hello? Hello?"
Ian hung up the phone. He sobbed and ran outside to his car and grabbed the keys in his pocket and started the car. He backed out of the driveway and started his drive to the hospital. He would be there when Anthony woke up.
He would always be there.
