"We came back to help!" Toola and Nolik met up with Digit and Fire.
"Great, we have 5 more big ones to fix."
"In less than an hour now, that's not enough time! Huh?"
Toola looked around, she saw 3 machines that were already fixed, including the ones that Verda and Simka had supposedly abandoned.
"Who fixed those?"
"Hm.. I don't know. Maybe they were fixed before?"
"Verda..?" Fire whispered under his breath. How could he ever forget. Even if he, himself often laughed at her vain personality. He still really cared about her. And wanted to see how she was doing. Was she okay? Was she still in the machines? And where was she?
"Fire where are you going?"
"To see Verda!"
Without hesitation he zoomed into any machine he found. Trying to catch any type of glimpse of a glowing green. It felt like forever before he could find what he thought was a button. But it was Verda, and she was curled up into a ball covered in ash and burn marks.
"Verda?"
"Huh... Fire?"
"Verda what are you doing here?"
"Oh.. you know I just fixed the machines! Heheh.."
"You look exhausted.."
"How dare you! Do I really look that bad? I'll get fixed up right away so turn around."
"Stop with that already, your makeup isn't going to do anything. Come on, you already fixed 3 machines all by yourself. Just rest already."
"I'm not going."
"Look, Simka went home she's not even here."
"Oh but my home is here! Away from everyone."
"Even me?" Fire put out his hand to the green one. And she took it as he helped her up.
"Maybe not you.." She batted her messed up eyelashes.
"Let's get you fixed up." He smiled.
"But what about all the rest of the machines?"
"Hey, I'll tell the others we need a time out."
He grabbed her hand as they disappeared into the light again. Zooming towards the others with a dirty Verda behind him.
"Fire, you're back! Woah.. Verda you're.." Nolik put his hands over his mouth.
She turned away as she wanted no comments about how she looked. She was fine with just facing the fact that she looked terrible at the moment all by herself. But I guess nobody has ever seen her like this before, because well she hasn't ever even showed anyone herself like this.
"Come on, you're acting like you've never worked your tail off like that before. Be quiet Nolik." Fire defended.
"Verda... you've spent all that time working on those machines by yourself? We could've helped you!" Toola sped up towards her, giving her a hug.
"I don't need any help, thank you."
"Oh.. uh okay then!" The yellow fixie slowly backed away, in awkwardness.
"Well done Verda, that means we have 2 more big machines to take care of, and we have.. 20 minutes left." Digit started to calculate.
"I can't believe it! We have to fix his laptop, and the manipulator is a bit broken on the inside."
"If professor Eugenius maybe spent more time getting his head in the right place, then none of this would've happened." Nolik joked. While Fire started to chuckle. But he felt a light tap on his shoulder. As he turned around a tired and slightly depressed Verda stared at him.
"Alright guys, I'll lead the rest to you. There's something I gotta do." He dragged her along into the other side of the laboratory, where the shelves stored many items, they both hid behind a box of used batteries. Right beside him was plastic cap that was filled with water, most likely left over from another experiment. It was giant in size and would do just the trick.
Pulling out a sponge from his pack-a-mat, he dipped it in very carefully as to not get it too full with water, and carefully smeared the dirt marks off her face.
"There, there. Now let's get a hairbrush."
He pulled out a hair brush and just gave it to her. She looked blankly at him, confused.
"Sorry, y'know I don't know how to do a girl's hair so I'll just leave that to you." He chuckled.
She smiled and grabbed her compact mirror, gently brushing her curls upward and back into place.
"I look.. alright again." She looked down and yawned.
"I'll see you tomorrow Verda, please get rest. There's no reason why you should overwork yourself anymore than you already did."
"Alright Fire. I'll be seeing you later, you Prince Charming." She flirted.
"Whatever Verda, you and your fantasies." He chuckled and rolled his eyes. He was used to her flirting. It just became an every-day thing now. The whole class knew it too, they were used to it. Though Fire never really flirted back. He would just dismiss it. Even though he cares about her, he just doesn't even know if he sees her in that type of way.
Fire was always confused on which he romantically loved.
Simka or Verda?
Either way, he didn't want to choose. There was no point in doing so. They're both beautiful and he cared about them both, so why did it matter?
