A/N: this chapter is showing more intimacy. I think.

"I believe we are working together on a mission," Dazai smiled.

"I'm looking forward to it," I say calmly as I return his smile.

"Elissseeee- channnn," M*ri sang from the other end of the room.

Me and Dazai Simply watched the scene unfold. I began to laugh and dazai smiled lightly. If I hadn't looked twice I wouldn't have even been able to tell.

After a while m*ri was next to the desk with Elise standing on top of the desk. Elise stuck her tongue out then jumped off the other end.

"What the actual fuck," chuuya muttered in disgust as he ran in the room.

"I didn't know you were joining us chibi~" Dazai sang.

"Shut up you dumb mackerel," Chuuya muttered eyeing the boss.

"I actually assigned 5 of you to this mission!" M*ri answered falling into his chair.

"What?" Chuuya questioned.

"Who else is joining us?" I added.

Before the boss responded my question was answered. Akutagawa and gin walked into the room in sync.

I thought Gin was with the black lizard? I wasn't going to question M*ri's choice, but I've never seen her on a mission without them.

All I truly have known Gin by when I first met her was Akutagawa's sister. Most members didn't even know that, yet I didn't know she even had a position. I only knew this through Dazai, before I even met the pair.

" Perfect timing you 2! " M*ri cheered.

Oh how I wish that cheer lasted longer.

(Autocorrect is getting on my nerves so I am going to stop censoring m*ri this is a trigger warning ⚠️).

Just like that the boss dropped his emotions to a serious state. Just as I seen Dazai do in the past.

The five of us exited Mori's office and walked down the hall.

Dazai went over the mission for us to verify as we came to the entrance of the Mafia headquarters.

I hate to admit it but I there is just a gut feeling that something is going wrong and it eats at my stomach. Akutagawa seemed to notice.

He walked to my side and placed a gently hand on my shoulder.

Chuuya and Dazai walked ahead as akutagawa stayed beside me. I was walking slower while I was in thought to avoid collision with something ahead. Gin followed akutagawa of course.

"Something isn't right," I whispered to Akutagawa. I didn't expect a response. Infact I'm not sure I remember his voice. It's been so long since he came to the office and he only said 3 words each time. It was hard to memorize.

"I'll cover you, just stay behind me". He nudges me slightly behind him and continues to watch. Gin watched curiously to the conversation. For his sister she made it seem like hes never acted like that.

I looked up to get a better look at akutagawa only to see a stranger. Not a physical stranger. It was still akutagawa, but it wasn't at the same time. In the moment their was a man with a soft heart standing off guard by his sister and a friend. Not an emotionless dog. Not a boy who seeks praise. Not a boy with a cold heart. Ryunosuke Akutagawa.

It didn't last very long infact it was only a millisecond. I'm glad that I was able to catch it. It's almost as if he did it on purpose. Though it's also true he never has reason to show emotion other than anger and calm. He may not even have experienced much else.

If I really want to understand him. I suppose that's where to start.
