You sat aboard the starfighter with it's course set for Alderaan, where you and your master had been sent on a mission to shut down a small factory being run by battle droids.
Accompanying you and your master, were three clone troopers. Charlie, Jaxx, and Mars.
You, Master Odorah, Charlie, and Mars sat around the table, playing a game of sabacc, betting on dried meiloorun, (which you desperately wanted) while Jaxx captained the ship.
You would've wanted for Jaxx to play too, but he enjoyed flying anyway. He was the best pilot you knew.
Mars was deciding what move to make, meanwhile you were attempting not to let it show that you would likely lose the game, with the crappy hand you'd been dealt. Charlie seemed to be all too pleased with his hand. Mater Odorah gave nothing away, as always. Her face completely devoid of any emotion.
You studied her features from across the table, trying to see if there were any falters in her expression. Anything that might give it away. She looked at you, revealing nothing but a small, upward twitch of her eyebrow, as if to say 'good luck finding anything.'
You frowned and gave up, turning your attention to Mars, wondering why he was taking so long.
"Come on, Mars. By the time you've made your move, we'll have completed the mission without you!" You joked. Your smile faltered when he didn't say anything, and when you noticed both his and Charlie's earpieces momentarily flashing.
You felt the starfighter come out of hyperspace. You still had hours to go. It would've been impossible for you to have reached your destination.
"What is it?" You asked, glancing at Master Odorah, who now looked concerned, her eyebrows knit together.
Mars and Charlie exchanged a look, one of both sadness and determination. You tilted your head in confusion as they stood simultaneously.
"What's going on?" You asked, feeling anxious at the sudden change of atmosphere.
Too quick for you to comprehend, Mars aimed his blaster at you, and Charlie pointed his at Master Odorah. You gasped in shock and terror.
"We're sorry. But this is the only way to peace..." Charlie muttered, sounding as though he didn't truly believe the words leaving his mouth.
Jaxx stumbled out of the cockpit, looking scared and desperate. What was going on?
"Guys, we can't listen to him! We have to try and fight it!" Jaxx begged.
Your heart was beating rapidly and your body began to tremble. Listen to who? Who was making them do this? And how?
You looked at Master Odorah for any sign of what to do. She shook her head so subtly it was almost unnoticeable, but it was enough to tell you to stay put.
"You're a traitor." Mars replied calmly, changing his aim from you to Jaxx, not even hesitating to blast him in the heart.
"Jaxx!" You screeched, panick rising in your chest as your eyes imediately began to water.
Before you could even blink, Master Odorah drew her lightsaber and used the force to throw you back and out of harms way, knocking you against the back wall, causing you to fall onto the hard floor. You groaned in pain.
Master Odorah quickly disarmed Charlie, by slicing his arm off, followed by his swift decapitation.
She cried out as Mars blasted her shoulder. You screamed again, and quickly scrambled to your feet, igniting your own lightsaber.
Another cry of pain from your master signified a second hit. Mars fired his blaster relentlessly. Master Odorah had fallen to the ground and could only use her lightsaber to deflect the firing plasma.
With a cry of fury, you charged towards Mars, who's back was turned to you. You leaped up, and as you came down, your saber burned a hole right between his shoulder blades, piercing through his abdomen.
His blaster dropped to the ground as he gave a roar of agony. You ripped the blade from his body and kicked him into the wall, a powereful force accompanied by the blow.
He was knocked unconscious, but you could still feel the life inside him. You picked up his blaster and fired at his heart. A moment of ease filled your mind as you felt the life quickly slip from his body. You turned off your lightsaber and reattached it to your hip.
Your feeling of rage left you, replaced by another round of panic when you saw Master Odorah.
"Master!" You fell to your knees beside her, covering the blaster wound in her side with your tiny hands to try and stop the bleeding, but she had already lost too much. You were kneeling in a pool of it.
Tears filled your eyes as you scanned the ship for a medical kit in desperation.
"Y/n..." Master Odorah mumbled.
"Just one second. I-I'll think of something-" You croaked.
"Y/n." She spoke louder. You stopped and looked at her as she grabbed your hands, tears now streaming down your face.
"Listen to me. Most of us will be dead. The sith have risen and the war has begun. You're going to take the escape pod and get far away from here." She began.
"I-I can't leave you." You sobbed. She reached up and wiped your tears with her thumb, surely smearing blood over your cheek.
"They're going to come after you. You need to find somewhere to lay low for a while. The time will come for when you will be needed to fight again. No one can know you're a Jedi until then. Do you understand?" She coughed, her words beginning to sound weaker.
You shook your head.
"No. No, I can't do it. I'm a padawan. I'm still training. I'm not-" You started.
"You're ready." She told you firmly.
"Please don't leave me." You whispered, tears blurring your vision.
"I am always with you." She promised. Her hand gave yours a weak squeeze before her body faded into nothingness, leaving nothing but her blood-soaked clothes and her still ignited lightsaber, softly humming on the ground.
You reached for it, your breathing uneven as your body shook with silent sobs. You held it in your shaky hands for a moment before turning it off, watching it's familiar, green glow disappear. That would be the last time you ever saw her lightsaber ignited.
You set it atop her bloodied clothes in your attempt of honouring her.
'They're going to come after you.'
Her words echoed in your head. You sniffled and rose to your feet.
You gathered what you could with reluctance, before making your way to the escape pod, sparing Master Odorah's death bed one last glance before climbing into the pod.
You activated it, disabled the tracking device, and detached from the starfighter, setting it to hyperspace mode with a course set for Corellia.
*sad first chapter, really sorry!*
