The first semester examinations casted their terror on the pupil of the university, occupying their half month of January. Iyaad endured his best efforts in the preparation and the rest of the game was of his brilliance. Together with the major in 'Graphic Design', he was also admitted for dual degree in 'Media and Communication' which was sufficient to tone his mood down only if he wasn't an assidous and dedicated student.
Meanwhile, Ayzel also wasn't someone to chill during exams. Despite her mind had fallen in the state of depression at the wrong point, she still showed great endeavor for good grades. Where Iyaad owned the ideology of staying prepared for the exams since start, Ayzel had a habit of secluding herself on instant for it's preparations.
The results were proclaimed in the ending week of January. During the result ceremony, the first shock Ayzel received was when Iyaad had been announced as the second position holder in Graphic Design whilst fourth in Media And Communication. As a freshly admitted student, the news had astonished many students and professors but the vital role it played, was watering the plant of his popularity along the campus some more.
The second shock for Ayzel was the voidness of her name in any of the positions from 1st to 10th and the most jolting shock of 10,000 volts she received, was when she found herself categorizing under 'D' Grade. The news fell over her head in even calamitous way than a thunder. Never in her 18 years lifetime had she imagined to come across any such thing. The normalcy she'd been craving to revive got another setback, paving the way for the depression to invade her mind even brutally.
"I expected a position from you Ayzel but here you nearly passed the failure. Do you even know what a shame you've casted on us? Tell me what's going wrong with you?" Mahdiya scolded on the video call with disappointment.
"There's nothing wrong Mama, I tried my best.. I swear I did but I don't know why.. why it happened—" Ayzel's voice quivered due to the building tension in herself. She was settled on one of the benches behind the university's student center.
"At least consider your scholarship, it could be cancelled if you continue your progress like this... you know how costly will be your fees if we're to pay—" Her sentence instantly interrupted by Jasaar.
"Come-on mama, don't make it such big issue. Ayzel, no need to worry about the fees okay, I'll lend loan from the office to clear the charges—" Jasaar offered politely. Ayzel shook her head in denial.
"No Bhai (Brother) it's OK, there's no need for that. The university isn't cancelling my scholarship, they let me go with the warning to cover my G.P.A in the following semester..." She said whilst gulping to hold back the tears.
"I'm so sorry I disappointed everyone, I just need some more time." To her words, Jasaar nodded in composed manner.
"Hmm fine. But make sure to regain your position in the next semester OK? I'm sure this must've happened because of your panicking nature. Chill Ayzel, Enjoy the life!" His tone was still light but Ayzel could detect the tension in his demeanor.
