~Umbrella - Mitsukou~

This is from a few months ago and has literally just been sitting in my google docs but yeah enjoy

(Also holy shit where are my mitsukou shippers at after chapter 98)

It was pouring rain outside.

Mitsuba was digging around in his backpack before realizing he forgot to bring an umbrella.
"Shit..."

He desperately looked around to find a solution.

I guess I can't do anything. It's fine... I'll just put my hood over my head and hope it at least keeps my hair dry.

It had started raining earlier that day. But, like the idiot he was, Mitsuba hadn't listened to the weather forecast from that morning.

Walking outside, he pulled his hood up over his head and started walking over the dew-covered grass field. The rain seeped through his Converse and onto his socks. His hair was wet on the front and sticking to his face. It was freezing cold. No one else was out. Of course they weren't, everyone else was already inside their nice, warm, homes.

A sudden clap of thunder made him jump.

Great. Thunder...

As he waited to cross the street, he looked behind him. There was a figure carrying an umbrella. As the person moved closer, he realized it was a boy in his class. And not just any boy - Kou Minamoto.

They were friends - not close, but they would say hi to each other in the hallways. Ask each other for pencils or text and ask about the homework.

For some reason, Mitsuba really liked him.

He didn't know what it was - he wasn't that cute or anything. He had a lame earring. He was really loud and exuberant. But he was nice.

As Kou approached Mitsuba, he waved upon seeing who it was. He timidly waved back.
"Hey!" Kou yelled, speeding up to reach Mitsuba. "Are you walking home?"
Mitsuba rolled his eyes. "No, I'm walking to school."
Kou laughed a little bit. "Do you need an umbrella?" Mitsuba blushed.
"I mean... I guess. Even if it's from someone with such an unhip earring." Kou shrugged the last bit off and moved closer to him so that the umbrella was covering him too. "I didn't know you lived in this direction..." Mitsuba muttered as they crossed the street.

"I don't actually, I'm going to pick my little sister up from preschool." They walked past rows and rows of houses with lights on in them. They would see the occasional silhouette of a person in the brightly-lit windows.

"Oh! You have a sister?" Kou nodded. "That's cute... how old is she?"
"Five. I also have an older brother, Teru Minamoto, maybe you know him? He goes to our school."
"Yeah, isn't he Student Body president?"

"Mhm."
The two walked in silence for a few blocks.

"Ah, well, my house is right here." Mitsuba awkwardly at his house. Kou turned to face him.

"Here, I'll walk you up."
Mitsuba blushed a bit more. The two walked over to the porch. Mitsuba pulled out the keys and fumbled as he tried to find the right one for the door. He slipped it in and unlocked the door. His mom was waiting.
"Sousuke!" She exclaimed, opening the door fully and hugging him. "I didn't know if you would make it home on time because of the rain, but it looks like this kind boy walked you!"
"Y-yeah."
"Hi, I'm Sousuke's mom, nice to meet you!"
"Kou Minamoto. I'm in your son's class..."

"Well, thank you for walking my son home in the rain."
Mitsuba briefly waved and walked into the house as his mom smiled and closed the door.

"He's nice. You should talk to him more."
"...yeah. I guess."

Mitsuba left and walked to his room to change out of his wet clothes.
