Unknown POV
I saw her again, back at the castle that had brought her so much torment in the past. Yet here she was again, snooping around and sticking her nose where it doesn't belong. Nevertheless, I was still intrigued by her, and I watched her intensely.
I can't wait to introduce myself

Kate's POV
I snuck around the broken ruins of the castle, pieces of stone were scattered across the ground and clouds of dust rose whenever I kicked them over. Suits of armour that were standing in the hallways were now spread across the floor, weapons that were hung on the wall also lay abandoned on the ground, gathering dust. The hallways were dark, the chandeliers hanging on the ceiling and the sconces attached to the wall had long since been snuffed out, leaving a somewhat gloomy feeling thick in the air.
I peeked into the different rooms, the memory of where I was slowly coming back to me, creeping towards where I thought the room was that I was looking for. I stepped over a large pile of rubble, scrambling up it to reach the door that was hidden behind it.
I strained to push it open, falling inside as the door suddenly fell open and a cloud of smoke rose when the movement. I brushed the dust from my clothes, scanning the room after I lifted my gaze to the scene in front of me. I stumbled backwards in horror at what I saw, slamming my back against the wall due to the speed I backed away.
There was a body in the centre of the room, laying face down against the floor. It was a Dark Angel, his wings spread over his back covering his arms as he lay on his front. I decided I would just avoid it, and carry on looking for the incantation so I could leave as fast as possible.
I rifled through the drawers by the bed, only to find candles, those wooden magic tube thingys, quills and a pot of ink. I huffed in frustration, running my hand through my hair. I turned back around, grimacing at the sight of the body again. Suddenly, light pierced through the thin window on the opposite side of the room, and something in the dead man's hand reflected the light into my eye.
I recognised the blue tint as one of those pearls, and upon closer inspection, he hand a whole handful of them. I walked over reluctantly, picking them up and putting them in my pocket. As I stood up, I saw a small rolled up piece of paper on the other side of the body, and realised that it was the incantation I needed.
I reached over to grab it, but when I did I caught sight of wounds on his back.
There were violent slash marks on the back of his neck, leading all the way down his back. There were four particularly deep puncture wounds in his neck, with bloody claw marks going down his spine, the rips in his shirt exposing the lacerations. They looked like they were inflicted by a dog or a wolf of some kind.
I quickly stood up again once I had taken the roll of paper, tucking it into my belt and walking back to the door again. {If you guys can work out who that is, you get a gold star for memory.}
I turned around briefly, looking back down at the body again. I sighed. Even though I had learned to fear the Angels, I still realised how bloody this war had become, and even though I would have happily defended those I loved, I didn't enjoy killing the Angels. I nodded in some display of respect to the fallen Angel, closing the door once again and sliding down the rubble on the other side.
"Back again so soon?" A malevolent voice growled in my ear.
I jumped to the side in shock, holding my hand over my chest to feel the rapid thumping of my heart. I whipped to the side to see a figure, similar to that of a Dark Angel, but it seemed to be made entirely of black smoke, the eyes glowing red like a demon.
"Who are you?" I asked, instantly regretting it when a dark, throaty chuckle came from him.
"Oh, sweetheart. I'm offended you don't remember me, we were such good friends."
My mind raced intensely in the attempt to remember who this was, his voice was very familiar but I couldn't place it. Suddenly, something clicked in my head which made me realise who it was:
"Hakon?!" I exclaimed in surprise, "I thought you were dead?"
"Don't sound so unhappy that I'm not." He said sternly, "And really, I'm not alive."
I looked at him quizzically, crossing my arms in a silent plead for an explanation.
"Well, I am an entity of my old self. Simply the being, the soul that drove my body."
"But Zeus killed you..."
"And you don't seem to even feel a slight bit of remorse for the pain I suffered. You didn't even take a second thought when you saw my body."
The body in the room. It was Hakon's. That explains the claw and bite marks. Hakon continued speaking before my thoughts could continue.
"But if you wish to kill a Dark Angel, there is a very specific way you must do it." He grinned, stalking closer to me gradually as I moved away,
"How?" I looked up at him, craning my neck upwards to focus on his face.
"Now that would be foolish if I were to tell you, wouldn't it?"
I huffed in frustration, feeling along the outside of my pocket to make sure I still had the pearls and incantation, which I did.
"Well, it was wonderful to talk to you, again but I must to going, places to be, ya know?"
"Kate." He stopped me, "There is one thing I wish to tell you before you go. Would you not grant me a final wish?"
I sighed, turning around and resting a hand on my hip.
"Go ahead." I shrugged.
He grinned, before eerily telling me the words that I had read not an hour ago.
"A deliberate inaction is preferred over a blind action."
With that, he disappeared in the signature cloud of smoke, leaving me in a stunned silence. I raced up the stairs onto the top of a tower, whistling for Gaia who swiftly appeared for me to jump on her back and fly away.
How long had he been watching me?
