I stood motionless in the crowd, staring directly into the eyes of my king. His worried gaze held me, desperately trying to get me to return to him. The protesters shouted angrily, whilst scared mothers ran back to their homes with crying children in their arms, whilst the fathers either joined in or watched the riot progress in fear.

"Kate!" He screamed desperately, pushing through the crowd to reach me, "Don't go with them! Please come back..."

"But you don't understand." I spoke calmly, "I don't want to come back."

I dropped my head, turning and leaving before he had any chance to catch me again. I left with the few people I had recently learnt to trust over him, who understood what needed to be done. He had not right to do what he had. He had no power over anyone.

Especially me.

5 years earlier

I was sat on my own, outside the castle walls. Surrounding the castle was a stretch of beautiful, green grass, with a few flowers scattered about here and there. It was my favourite spot, mainly because I could watch the townsfolk move around the town. Most days I used the scenery for my sketching, and I always kept a small notepad in my back pocket for such an occasion. Currently, I was finishing off the drawing I had done of the village in front of the castle, and the mountains and snowy peaks that framed it.

"Kate." Harry softly called from behind me; the quietly sound of him walking over the grass making me turn around, smiling to him in greeting.

"Hey, Harry." I smiled, looking back at the pad again once he had sat done next to me, resuming my sketch.

"You know you aren't allowed out here." He said, watching the town as I drew.

"I know." I nodded, putting the pad and pencil down and looking back at the streets, "But I like it here."

"We should back onto the grounds." He said solemnly, "You don't know the kind of people that could approach you out here."

"I've been doing this for ages, and the only thing that I've seen is Gaia when she comes over for company."

He chuckled slightly, sighing afterwards and lying down on his back. I didn't follow him however, and stayed sat up, watching as a group of children ran about the horse and carts, and busy merchants selling their wares, seemingly unbothered by the noise and commotion.

"Still," He said, standing up again, offering a hand out for me to get up, "We should go, bring your stuff."

I huffed, clearly seeing that my argument was getting nowhere. I took his hand and got up, grabbing my pad and pencil and shoving them in my back pocket. He still held my hand as we walked back inside, since he had learnt from experience that I could bolt away again, hiding in some secluded part of the outside wall until he gave up and went inside.

The guards who stood in front of the main gates stood to attention as we approached, opening the steel doors when Harry nodded in a subtle command. The grounds weren't nearly as crowded as they were a few months earlier, when we had worried for the safety of the people and the dominion. When we had fought for our lives and others had lost theirs. But after our victory, peace and prosperity and spread throughout the different holds of the kingdom, leaving families to either rejoice in success or mourn over their lost fathers, sons, or brothers.

"I need to go and check on the knights, ok?" Harry finally spoke as we entered the echoing entrance hall, looking back at me as he continued walking whilst I was stood still.

"Ok, I see you at dinner then?" I asked,

"See you then, darling." He grinned, jogging off in the opposite direction.
