You and Lo'ak had always hated each other.

He was the Toruk Makto's son and used it to his advantage acting superior to you. After all- you were only an ordinary forest na'vi. Growing up the elders always referred to you both as the Olo'eyktan and his Tsahik. Which was funny because you were on completely opposite sides.

You always found him annoying- gathering your other friends- often only girls into a separate "clan" while Lo'ak would do the same with the boys. You would then proceed to fight each other- resulting in him beating you.

Every. time.

It was frustrating, you would often end up crying and he would simply laugh. However he would quickly regret it seeing that it made you upset- handing you a bead from the trinket he wore in his hair- one that was given to him by his father.

He would still annoy you- pulling your hair and stealing the pxiwll you would gather to grind up flour. He would call you names, his favorite one being obnoxious, one that he gave you since you were little- always challenging him to duels. You would call him an asshole and rightfully so.

He would often explore the forest with you, never letting you go out alone when you wanted to collect herbs. You never argued because it seemed to make him feel important but would quickly curse him off when he pulled your tail as you bent to pick mushrooms.

You couldn't figure out when exactly you started seeing him as more than just the annoying bug eyed kid. Often staring at the way his stupid face would light up when he was praised, or the way he would duck his head every time he laughed, or the way he would make you walk in front of him when you went exploring- so you wouldn't stray away.

The only problem was- he didn't seem to reciprocate the feelings. He was still the same Lo'ak- calling you obnoxious, pulling your hair and making the same old jokes.

He didn't notice that you stopped calling him an asshole.

He was confusing- you remembered how he ran to you first when he first tamed his ikran, hugging you tight even though his face was covered in cuts. Cut's you healed. You thought about how he always sat next to you during dinner- but it always felt friendly. He never got nervous around you, he never blushed at anything you said. He was just him.

You were currently helping Neytiri prepare supper. Neteyam sat across from you helping separate the grains from the husk. It was originally Lo'ak's job but Neytiri had sent him off after he tried chasing Tuk with a bug that laid in the grains.

Lo'ak sits beside you as you pound the herbs to a paste- alert of his eyes that watched your every move. Your eyes are trained to the mortar and pestle in front of you- focusing on the herbs not realizing your name was being called.

"Y/n." Lo'ak's voice rings in your ear and you jump slightly turning to look at him startled. His face is close- expression unreadable,

"What?"

He blinks and you want to punch your heart for reacting so goddamn loud,

"I think its done." He says finally eyes motioning towards the mortar and you follow his train of eyesight.

The herbs had turned into a fine paste- finer than you intended for it to be and you blush embarrassed clearing your throat and passing the vessel to Neytiri before excusing yourself.

"Lo'ak what did you do?" you hear Neteyam question as you leave

"Nothing!" his reply comes exasperated and confused.

You enter your tent groaning at the fact that you made a huge scene over nothing.

You hoped he didn't notice your lingering eyes, or the way you would stumble over your words when he asked you something.
